*** Red Alert 3 ***

Well my copy arrived this morning and I can't even play the ruddy thing. Just get a message about the game not being able to detect an internet connection so can't start. Seems a lot of people are having a similar problem on the official forums and have done for days. What a joke. I shouldn't have to download a crack for a game that I've ruddy paid for!

Same problem I get, think I'd need to open up firewall ports at my uni to get it to work.

EA games seem to be getting worse and worse with bugs and DRM issues causing problems, I can quite honestly see why people play cracked games. I don't understand why they bother with DRM and making people have the disc in the CD drive, pirates will get round it anyway.

I just wish EA would make life easier for the people that actually buy the game!

Sorry, yeah I did not explain myself that well. The point is, you have to have a choice between your disc being in the tray or putting up with DRM problems. Does DRM really help beat piracy? I would say no judging by the easily available cracked copies the day before release.

Skirmishes suck imo in this game, everything is so terribly balanced, infantry are overpowered imo, and tanks underpowered...

I think I'll continue to play RA2 instead.
The only fun thing is the story and the females :).

OH, and cracked splash screen > the original rubbish splash.
Judge by yourself:

When the sea is outside of your MCV build area, you can build a Prospector to set up base near tot he sea to build the naval yard. But am I right in saying you need an MCV & Battle Lab (or what ever it's called in this game) to get the Aircraft Carrier and Assault Destroyer?

No, for allies they have a retarded teching system, where whichever base's command building the production building is in needs to be upgraded to tech 3 (max clearance or something). For the MCVs it's in the build tab, but for the outposts set up by the prospecters it's the special function of the unit so just whap 'F' to upgrade them. The defense bureau just enables the purchases of proton cannon and the special defense towers.

I installed the pirated copy (no demo, only a beta you had to pay for?) and bought the game a few days later having liked what I saw and the game keeps crashing on the 3rd Soviet campaign, not the 6th as stated with the cracked copy.

I obviously got rid of the wh0re copy, but it looks like i'll be reinstalling XP. :D

Just a word of warning.
