Who is going to use these NXE features?

They were £60 in a well known shop the other day.

Have to try out the HD install on the 20gig and see if its worth it

Transfer them using a memory card or you'll have to get hold of the transfer cable. You can get it by filling a form in and sending it off to MS.

I've ordered an Elite, and will need to transfer my data from my Halo Edition to it before I start playing properly on it, which will probably be ages before I get the cable mind. :( But I'll fill out the form and send it off as soon as I can. :)
 
Buy a cheap 512MB mem card off the bay. That's what I did and you can always sell it again after.

It'll only a take a couple of days to come and all you really need is your save games / gamer pics which won't take much space. Everything else can be downloaded again.

It's free, it's only a couple of days, and I can transfer all of the data saving on having to download it all again, I really don't see a problem with getting it, plus if I ever want to get a 2nd console, I can use it again, or if a friend upgrades and doesn't have one, it can be lent. :)

And my luck with USB Flash drives is bad...I bought a Corsair 8GB stick at the end of August, and it broke at the start of October...then my 3 year old 2GB one died shortly after. :(

That doesn't sound too bad.
When I got my Elite last year I was told it could be 2 weeks.

Oh, I thought you'd said the cable would be a couple of days...I read that wrong, you meant the card. :p

I'm prepared to wait a few weeks anyway, I don't play in the evenings and for the next 3-4 weeks I'm busy at the weekends so can't play anyway. :)

Actually, I'm being daft.

You can just plug your old HD into your Elite until it arrives!
 
I've been very tempted but I deleted the file a few days ago and will wait now until 19th. Two weeks today will be here before you know it.
 
Any one know if an American HD will work ok. Have the opportunity to get one at the weekend and I'm not sure whether to take the risk or not.
 
The update(8mb) installs into the flash memory does it not. Then you download the rest)120mb) from Live but unless you were in the preview program they aren't allowing your console to download the rest. So unplugging the HD won't make a difference.

That is what I thought happened anyway.
