Who is going to use these NXE features?

Im currently using the install to HD feature, only have a 20GB drive which doesnt really bother me. What might bother some is that now ive got GTA on there ive only got 5.7GB free, which judging from earlier on in the thread isnt going to be enough for another game. On the plus side, its abit quiter which is nice however im getting lots of bits of scenery that take ages to load. I had expected to have pop-ups go down playing from HD not get worse.

I previously read a post on another forum (aaaages ago) that basically predicted this would happen with GTAIV. Problem is, GTAIV on the 360 streamed a cache to the harddrive when you first played it (which is why many experienced invisible obstacles at first and several people without harddrive experienced the problem throughout the game) and then the game would use both the cache on the harddrive and the disk drive to stream data as fast as possible in order to prevent popup.

Now that all of the data is on the harddrive the game is unable to stream the data from two sources at once, therefore slowing down the rate at which data can be loaded. GTAIV is the only game on the 360 that i know of that has taken this approach, so it's going to be the only game that could suffer due to a harddrive install.

Buy a cheap 512MB mem card off the bay. That's what I did and you can always sell it again after.

It'll only a take a couple of days to come and all you really need is your save games / gamer pics which won't take much space. Everything else can be downloaded again.

My bioshock save was 712MB  Not to bothered by that one but quite a few others were getting up to a few hundred meg

My dad and brother are getting me a 120gb for christmas, well they are paying for it so I just need to order it and I'll be all set to start installing.

The tests on Eurogamer showed that Halo was a lot worse when installed, think rp2000 posted it further up or on another page.

Lcukily that seems to be the exception as it's caching heavily (although people don't seem to be complaining about GTA IV, which also caches. I guess for those exceptions, we'll have to just play it from the disk!

I'm surprised at some of the differences, I didn't think some of them (bar Halo 3) would be that big.

Should be good :)

Seems the NXE had a sting in it's tail after all. No real suprise there. If I was a pirate i'd not have let that near my console til everyone had tested it.

So they can either detect the firmware/stealthed discs or are just banning the very early players. The danger is now if you even buy a new console it will just get banned again.

What do you mean Danny? Are post-NXE pirates getting toasted?

I thought it was just that if you NXE-ed your console without having permission you just can't access live until the release date?

??

Just checked my Friends list through the web page and I do see a lot of people with the status Offline and no "last played" next to their name, even people I played against in last 2 days. Seems weird but dunno if this means they are banned as some of these folk don't have NXE and the ones that do have it, don't have modded consoles.

Recent bannings are nothing to do with NXE. Unbanned people may have installed it without being in the preview program, meaning they cant connect to Live anyway till Wednesday.

These people that have been banned installed the NXE legit. The console has been banned.

Which still has nothing to do with NXE

They would have been banned if they had been on the official trial or not.

It seems weird that everyone I know thats currently been banned in the last 24 hours has installed the NXE. The people I know who have been banned in the last 24 hours are not idiots they have all used stealthed games and check the disc's before playing. Yet the NXE is installed and the console has been banned.

Why now, why not last week.

Even if you think it's not the NXE then somewhere MS have gotten smarter. Either they can detect stealthed discs or are just banning early users (which I really dont think they would)
