Screen - water damage

I have an Iiyama 2403WS screen (24" TN panel, matt finish) and, thanks to my cat, it has some damage from water.

I left a half-empty glass of water on my desk one morning a couple of weeks back, and when I came back my cat had knocked it over (she likes doing this with glasses), and had been splashing around in it. There were some stains on the screen where the water drops had splashed on it and dried, and they don't seem to want to come off...

When the screen is dark they become completely invisible, but they are highly noticable when white light is passed through. I'm guessing it was the minerals in the water which caused the damage when it dried? Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of damage, and has any suggestions? Is it just 'new screen' time?

If I do get a new screen, would a glossy finish be more resistant to this type of damage than a matt one?

Cheers...

As for the marks. I've always used windolene clear and tissue paper to clean my screens then a microfibre cloth to buff it up. Be sure to do it on a cold screen though

:( oh well...

Unfortunately these things seem to be odd stains, rather than 'marks' per se. There is no actual muck on the screen, and they're invisible with dark colours. I'll give windolene a go though - you never know.

I'd try the microfibre cloth and water first, don't want to damage the anti-glare coating with any solvents if you can help it.

If it doesn't work, try a 50/50 solution of pharmacy-grade Isopropyl Alcohol and water.

I got some stuff called Strand TFT/LCD Screen cleaner from Asda and it works a treat. Got pretty much everything off of my screen so far using a microfibre cloth and is only about £4.00 for 250ml.

EDIT - to add I have used this both on my matt tft, my Sony 50" LCD and also a glossy laptop screen with no problems at all.

I've got some 'screen cleaner' and some microfibre cloths on order now, so I'll see how they work out. I'm not holding my breath though, as there is nothing physically attached to the screen; it seems to be some kind of stain :(

I've only tried cold cloths though, so I'll try how water and then isopropyl alcohol when the cloths arrive (thanks philjohn!). The screen is already a mess so I don't really have much to lose any more...
