- Drivers are better and far more consistent.
Thats got to be the funniest thing I've seen so far today (until I fire up the Jimmy Carr DVD my brothers picked up later on).

260 core 216 beats any 4870 it was nVidia's 4870 killer and it worked...
the overclocked ones can get better FPS than a 280 at stock and there around 100-120 quid cheaper...

Surely if anything, the most common problems with the 48** cards are driver related. You just need to do a search or look around on this forum to see the amount of problems. There's no where near as many related to the 260/280.
Your driver issues are not the norm with nvidia...
The only outstanding issues are some systems only work in 4bit color mode after installing nVidia drivers - but this can easily be worked around... and the display driver stopped responding error and 9 times out of 10 this isn't a driver issue at all but instability with another hardware component - usually memory or northbridge.
The 8800GT handles FSAA fine in most games for most people - I've not tried or have any experience with AOE3 and FSAA - but it works flawlessly with everything else.
Driver release schedule is fine by me - when a new game comes out that requires an update they've usually had a new driver out just before or at the game release.
Not to mention you rarely ever *need* a driver update, it's just small framerate improvements for benchmarks.
You're saying this like it's a bad thing? Surely any update, no matter how small, is a good thing?
Thats just ATI brainwashing...
