The Zombie Invasion Strategy Thread

Funny enough we have a load here. My housemate makes the stuff.

Just chainmail or full on plate mail too?

I've always wanted to spend a couple of years learning how to do it properly. Not enough to become a master but just long enough to be able to know what I was doing if I needed too.

These are the sorts of skills you would need in a survival situation.

Are we talking about old fashioned slow zombies or this new breed of lightening fast ones??

this is a good point i presumed fast ones. If it was the slow ones ill go zombie hunting. Glock, shotgun, machete and plenty of ammo at my house so would be fun

Just chainmaile, he's a useful chap to have in such situation.

Yeh lol the slow ones would have me WANTING to leave the house to occupy me for an afternoon :D

Problem with chainmail...yes, it is thick...

But if you have someone munching on your neck aggressively, I'm sure (maybe...?) that it would eventually pinch your skin? Especially on the neck area, which then means if the virus is spread via thing's like saliva...it would inevitably go enter your skin one way or another.

  • Cash and change, as electronic banking transactions may not be available during the initial period following an emergency or evacuation.

Out of interest who exactly is going to be manning the stores to take said change/cash? I'm not saying it won't be necessary but you're not going to find me staying around minding the till, I'm getting the **** outta Dodge at the first opportunity.

Oil rigs are not a bad idea, in fact anywhere with generators/alternative sources of power isn't a bad plan.

Anyone read The Rising and City of the Dead by Brian Keene? Good zombie books, got me thinking along these lines :)

Least you have a 'constant' oil supply....untill it runs out obviously.

LOL #66 posts give me a sigh of relief that I no longer feel like a nutter  Soooo glad there are others who think the same

My biggest problem would be the lack of OCUK forums each day :D

I think weapons and water would be my priority as i'm more likely to run into a zombie within the next 24hours than I am to starve to death.

The oil rig sounds good although i think i'd want to leave, just to find out whats happened. Hopefully they would all die of starvation before i died for any reason.

Camera and notebook is a must! Detailing and noting down useful info is extremely important.
Also 'quick bags' - bags that are already packed and ready to use, full of useful stuff (but not too heavy) if an area goes downhill quickly.

Choose a common, yet obscure point found inside every car, and leave the key there, leave the car unlocked. Change this if someone is banished from your group.
