So I'm finally watching Cowboy Bebop after everyone and their grandmother telling me to. It's annoying me actually. I WANT to like it, but I really just can't get into it. I have no desire to watch the next episode at all. I'm on episode 9 right now, but I can't think of anything that interested me much so far. I can't even remember what happened in half of those episodes, and I only watched them 3 days ago. Maybe I'm expecting too much?

I find I need to be in the right frame of mind to watch it, it was one of the first anime series which I watched and I found that either I struggled with it or I zoomed through it depending on how I was feeling.

I do think that it is a bit over-rated like NGE.

Rewatched Nanaka 6/17 at the weekend which is quite an amusing little story, although you do have to wonder whether it was written to try and encourage children to not study all the time and socialise more :)

I've mostly been watching odd episodes and OVA, apart from Manabi Straight, as with Familiar of Zero and the second season of Emma due out I don't want to get bogged down in something which would delay me watching them ... new season of Clannad is shaping up well though.

Spent some time at the weekend sorting out some of my unwanted Anime and putting it on a popular auction site :)

edit: also read the first four Maria-sama novels in the last week and found someone on that auction site selling Maria-sama doujinshi(sp)

To the person who isn't sure about CB Bebop.

About Cowboy Bebop. I hated the first episode when i first got it and thought what a load of rubbish. But then i watched the next few and it picked up greatly and i got so much more interested and now i consider it one of my fav animes. :)

Mine shipped on the 30th, so hopefully will be here by the weekend :)
I received the invoice today, and recently i've been getting the invoice from trsi about 4-5 days before the package.

Mine shipped from UP, hence Kent I think, so I should have it tomorrow or Thursday :)

Seems a but of a :( though as it looks like the images on the packages are a bit to spoilerish but unfortunately were a license requirement.

Well I'm on the 9th episode (still) and I haven't found it particularly interesting so far.

Tho every time I tell my friends that I don't know if I'm going to finish it, they just say "well you have to" so I guess I'll keep watching lol.

Aye I heard the same thing, iirc it's the same for the menu on disc 4 :(
One of those times the Japanese Licence holder requires something that to the western fans seems more than a little mad*.

On the plus side my copy arrived this morning from TRSI so I should be watching it this evening :D

Scott, if you're not enjoying Bebop at the moment, it might be worth putting it to one side for a bit, I know I sometimes have major problems watching/reading something at one point then will whizz through it a bit later**.
From memory if you're on episode 9 you're probably only a few episodes from it getting into the background of some of the characters (IIRC from about episode 12 onwards you start getting more on the background of them), however if you're really not enjoying it at the moment pushing on with it may be a bit silly.

*I don't know how true it is, but I have heard that "spoilers" as such aren't seen as a big thing in Japan with trailers often giving them away.

**Initially I couldn't get past the first hundred pages of what became one of my favourite series of books (Peter F Hamilton's great Nights Dawn Trilogy).

I have my copy in front of me at the moment at work :) .... probably start watching it tomorrow or the weekend, (I have tomorrow off), but I want to finish off Strawberry Panic first.

Was reading a thread on the AoD forums the other day and someone had a rather nice Aria promotional poster they'd framed ... looked really good, only issue is that they seem to get sold on a Japanese auction site which means you need to work through a proxy service to purchase and that looks complicated/expensive ....

Isn't everything Japanese complicated and expensive, but oh soo tempting?

I've just finished watching the first couple of episodes (and recap) of Emma Season 2 and i'm loving it, unfortunately it's got the same problems I tend to have with a lot of subbed anime I have to keep pausing it due to distractions.

Just finishing disk 2 of Emma and it's great, superb is possibly the word to use :D (Episode 5...).

It's the sort of anime that seems pretty rare, story/character driven with no real gimmicks, historical setting and just darn enjoyable.

Episode 5 .... OMG :D:D:D

edit: .... and done. Very very good series and highly recommended. Hard to say but I think that episode 5 is my favourite out of this series but a nice rounded plot with a definite ending.

edit2: if I met Emma looking like she does in the latter part of the main plot event in episode 5 then I'd marry her myself :)

Anyone played through the kinetic novel Planetarian?

My friend pretty much forced me to (never really got the idea of clicking through a "book" but I had a go anyway) and it was incredible. One saddest stories I have ever read. :(:(:(

I've not read/played through it, but a quick google suggests it's by the same people that did air and kanon which could possibly explain why it might be so sad, it's tweaked my interest now :)

I've just finished Emma Season 2, and it's got one of the better endings for an anime i've seen, and i think I may have found another favourite anime (for some reason it reminds me in feel a bit of Haibane Renmei, possibly in part to the story and colours used).

She did look rather pretty:)

I think i'm probably going to make a start on Southern Cross tonight, then take a break for Black Lagon 2:2 when it arrives.

I've looked at some of the Visual Novel type games previously but the only ones you tend to see available in the wset are the "H" ones .... of the others some, like the one mentioned may be have a 3rd party patch available to enable English at some level but it can mean juping through various hoops even if you can get hold of the original game legitimately (which is not often possible).

For instance I would love to play the Clannad game, it's not "H" and as far as I can see the only English translations are fan made and are not necessarily complete. And that's before the problem of getting hold of the game legitimately.

**** meow **** was my first:D
basic easy to use,fun but NSFW or family although there are fare more detailed ones out there
These type of book/games have the advantage of usually being able to run on a low spec pc or lappy and don`t take much in the way of brains to play

It's really short too which was nice, I finished it in one sitting.

Watched Magical Witch Punie-chan at the weekend ... ok but like Bludgeoning Angel whatsit found it missed the mark somewhat. Did watch the first disk of Rozen Maiden Traumund(sp) which was quite good.

Regarding the above mentioned Visual Novel ... anyone know how to actually get it legitimately, it looks pretty cheap but the one site I found which had a walk through on pruchasing it seemed out of date with the site it was referencing which meant the instructions appeared to be wrong. Getting the English patch isn't an issue but picking up the (cheap) game is.
