***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

mines fine , would restart steam.had one prob earlier but fine now once restarted.

joined the ocuk group :p

think theres 20 maps in retail version.then you have the modded custom maps aswell. the game does need decent friends though cause that is what makes it fun.if you a single/ lone wolf it would become boring very quickly. i suggest one whos level headed ,one who is a gimp, good gamer, angry gamer. nice mix is needed

The time you shoot the zombies off of you so has the other 3 players so its not like your helping people out. The only thing i felt like we did together was follow each other. Later levels may be better but on the demo its not for me
You have to watch each others back, and cover every entrance when the hordes come. If you're on your own and a hunter/smoker gets you, goodbye. A bad team makes the game pretty pants, so get a solid friend list going.

Those that aren't getting what L4D is about, if you're not playing it on expert, you're not playing it properly. You have to make the game remarkably difficult to understand how brilliant the team play is.

Stupid STEAM with stupid non working friends list.

Really annoying now, you can never join via the friends list.

Well, I can't
Don't try to join through Steam while in windows, open the Steam overlay in game and join preople through there, that never fails. Also, L4D has a friends page on the menu screen, that also makes friend games incredibly easy. Now that the matchmaking bugs have been mostly ironed out I can see why they did it, it just works.

Awesome game!! Loving it so far, definitely going to be my first purchase through steam (unless it's cheaper in the shops).

Is anyone having major problems with it crashing?
After about 2-5 minutes it seems to crash for me with a sound loop, i've just updated the drivers and that didn't make any different at all?

that happened to me last night, i put my 4870 back to default clocks and it was fine for the rest of the night

having said that, it was fine the night before, overclocked, so maybe its just a random thing?

Had another go on advanced bit more tricky worked as a team pretty good too and made it safely to the end of the demo but there is still something missing?

Ok so after a couple maps you dont want to quit cos you have fought your way through a couple levels with 3 other real people and built up a kind of bond but apart from that what else is there?

The jury is still out on this one im afraid.......

I used to get lockups all the time until i set the left4dead.exe processor affinity to 1 core.

to progress, keep moving, dont stay in one area.

The slower you are the more evil director is, itll keep swarming you.

Before me and my flatmates even loaded the game we were talking tactics (sad maybe..) 2 shottys at the back (one forward one covering behind) and 2 smg's usually crouching during a firefight to provide a barrage.

on vent with my mates we constantly update eachother, what we see what we hear. Even if its blindingly obvious you dont want anyone to not know when to cover you.

communication in this game is key imo.

openserverbrowser ingame console too.

Can be had for £20 pre-order, so much cheaper than Steam.

At that price though it's really tempting me to get it on PC rather than 360. Though I will make my final decision tonight after playing the demo on both formats.

You're better of getting it from the shops.

Can be had from as little as £20 delivered.

$44 makes it ~£29 from steam.

Edit: Beaten by above...

.

a lot of the times you can be fighting off a horde and one guy will get grabbed by a smoker and the other 3 won't even notice untill he is dead. Its that sort of team work that'll keep you all alive. You have to constantly keep looking behind you and making sure all your team maktes are there.

Also, don't jump off the apartments roof and leeroy jenkins it. :D
