Left 4 Dead demo available

Who wants a game? Don't mind hosting. Be good if it's with people who have mics, more fun that way

It's a god damn demo, it's going to have issues...lol

Then again, every 'demo' that comes out lately is a beta test, not a demo :p

just been playing, not as tense as zp, too much ammo tho have not tried expert level yet.

It's far more fun on expert - actually insanely challenging.

theres a standard out there at the moment, before a big(sometimes even small) game release there is usually a demo, it free available for everyone and last a very long time. every1 has been happy with that so far.

FarCry2, DeadSpace, Fallout3 - all big name games with no demo pre-release. There's no "standard" wherein demos are released before the game, so I've no idea where you've got that idea from. Unless it was the 90s.

lol i have not played the game for more than 20 seconds before it crashes.
sometimes to windows, sometimes whole pc goes down, neither has any kind of error message.
currently trawling through internet sites and attempting fixes :(

Expert is awesome. Got the demo earlier and been playing with a few mates.

5 minutes ago said it would be our last go, and we escaped :D (ie we avoided the tank. lol)

Can you post here if you get it fixed? Mine is crashing after a few mins and I'm having to reset the full machine :(

So, if I can be pretty sure that buying the retail, will end up installing into Steam, and not requiring the disk in the drive, and will use the Steam friends/multiplayer system, and auto patch, then problem solved :)

Thanks,
Vin.

Hey V1N, just confirming that you don't need the dvd in the drive to play, infact you don't need the dvd at all (although obviously it cuts out the job of having to download it). All you really need is the serial number from inside the box to tie the game to your account, just the same as if you'd bought it via steam. :)

ive got a feeling its to do with the x-fi, i recall having issues with my x-fi and another source based game awhile ago
Hmm yeah could be. But I've been playing HL ep2 a lot recently and that's been fine.

I'll need to play around with the settings to see if I can fix it. But having to manually reset every time it crashes is gonna be a pain.

Can't believe some are moaning about the demo. You're lucky to even get a demo these days! The 5 day time limit dont really matter does it? Most pc gamers keep on top of new releases and demo's. It will be on gamershell anyway, so i can't really see the problem.

As for the game. It's an awesome oldskool style shooter. I won't be buying it straight away though. just bought FC2, Deadspace, and FO3, damn i wish i would've got this now instead!!

Everyone keeps going about this demo being time limited... is that based on the counter which states "only 5 days left" or something like that?

Has anybody considered that it might just be counting down to the release of the game - remember games are released on the Tuesday in the States.

Is there some article or something confirming that it is indeed time limited rather than a count down to release?
