Goodbye City-Link, hello DHL

A couple of courier companies are starting to twig and offer a better service now, I had a good experience with UPS recently so hopefully DHL (Drop it, Hide it, Lose it ;)) are already onboard :)

that means the cheapest registered option is £6.45, i'm sure city link was cheaper. I never had a problem with them. Now if i miss the delivery man i have to drive 6 miles in towards west london to pick my parcel up. I suppose you cant please everyone...

:(

Citylink were literally perfect in this area, never ever missed a delivery

Same around here.

Hopefully DHL will be just as good, and I hope Spie remembers to archive this thread, so that in 6 months time when people are complaining about DHL we can point them to it :p

Or you can call the driver on his mobile and he'll come back for you.:)

i've never had a problem with city link either.

But dhl at home, I had a big issue with when i bought some thing of ebay (its just man with van, "can deleiver"). package sent out on friday then, on tuesday, supposedly a driver could not find the address?? (Can't read a map or dont own a satnav) no one else struggles to find it.

Then given to a different drive who was ment to deliver on friday cue me waiting in, no driver all, I ring up to call, the drive tried to but you werent in. The loud dog barking is usually a give away when some one trys to put something in the lettre box, no joy at all. Got it on the saterday but for a 48 services that took over a week not good enough.

DHL express I think it is? they are fine good service from them. But the Home one is just a joke also means i guess no depot to go to, to pick it up just their house not sure if every one would be comfortable with that.

If they can manage the NHS England Supply Chain distribution network without breaking a sweat then they can probably drop off a few motherboards without too much trouble ;)

This is great news. I bl00dy hated City Link.

DHL@Home is indeed a B2C service, DHL Express is predominantly B2B.

Part of me thinks we should tap into the B2C market more, part of me thinks it would be a nightmare as B2B is generally far less problematic and we should leave B2C to other companies to worry about.

"Tarts in Sierras" delivery services can vary from very good to very bad, just like Express services a lot of it depends on your locality and the driver who does your local run. For the majority of OcUK customers I can see it being an improvement on standard Express services from the likes of Amtrak, CityLink etc.

DHL UK Home Delivery Service now available at OcUK. As part of our ongoing commitment to improve service standards we are pleased to announce the availability of the next day (Mon-Fri, Sat at extra cost) DHL Home Delivery for our UK customers. The DHL Home Delivery Service is a dedicated residential service that delivers between 7am and 9pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings before noon.

In a radical departure from usual courier practice if you are not at home when the driver calls you will be left a card with the drivers mobile number so that delivery can take place later that day. DHL have been selected due to their outstanding reputation as a provider of reliable courier services and are now handling the bulk of our UK and International business. DHL represents a premium delivery option at and I'm pleased to report that that delivery prices in many cases have actually reduced.

DHL UK Delivery is available with immediate effect from just £6.99 +VAT.
Wow. Pretty decent news. :)

I do like the idea of getting something redelivered the same day. I try not to be out or away from the door so I can hear the bell. Really annoys me that they won't come back the same day. Especially when I see City Link vans going up and down my road after the missed delivery. Missed a delivery a while ago with another delivery company. However the driver left their mobile number so I rang and 10 minutes later got the delivery. :)
