***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I pre-ordered this game on steam a couple of weeks ago. I pre-loaded it today. Can you actually play the game yet or what?

On what grounds?

It will be boring very quickly, the routes are completely linear and the gameplay is rather uninteresting. Granted the graphics are nice and it will be good to play with friends and more maps, modes and weapons will be released. But from making a judgement from the demo I think it's rubbish, and it has been ridiculously over hyped. Even for the people who enjoy it I doubt it will have any lasting appeal for, going through the same path will become boring.

counter strike 1.6 is the same for many many years and it's still one of the best games i've played

Lol, 30 hours of demo game time says to me that this game isn't boring. I guess its just not your game. As for this being over hyped? Nope, more like under hyped.

Why the roll eyes? It's just an opinion on a game.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: ;)

Difference is with counter strike is that it's competitive with and against others. People play it for years and still become better as a player and as teams. Left4dead (or at least the mode in the demo) is quite different, playing against AI and completing the levels on the highest difficulty, maybe fun and an achievement but after that it won't have the same kind of satisfaction you can get from beating another person like in css.

Is anyone else having problems with this?

I can't connect to any games, neither can my mate. Was working fine the other day. Looking at the logs, it keeps trying to connect to local addresses (192.168.*)...however it seems from the server list there are some people playing.

Anyone else??

Yeah, perhaps just not my game as other people appear to be enjoying it. I wouldn't say it's underhyped though, I think it has had pretty good coverage by the looks of things. I do wonder though if people will still be enjoying playing against AI after a few months though, it may be enjoyable now but I very much doubt it will have the lasting appeal of other online game.

well u can play as a zombie to :) plus every level will get harder and everytime you play through the level something is different... im sure valve will be updating l4d same as they do with tf2 adding more maps, achievements etc.. or maybe it's just me... liking the game too much same as i did with tf2 at the start and now it's boring as hell... :o

+1 tbh.

Said the same sort of thing on the previous page.

Still although I doubt it'll have the longivity of cs, it will still provide many hours of enjoyment (if you get on with it).

I will definitely give it another blast again when/if Valve do some free weekends :). But from the current demo it's left me unimpressed.

everyone ;D go to console ant type openserverbrowser or something like that.. you can connect to that servers.. it happend after valve released 2nd update for demo.. looks like they are just testing something... i hope tomorow we'll get new patch so we can play like before.. :) it's not long left till full release... x]

i cant find ANY servers...
Man, this is getting annoying...
Oh well, as long as there aren't any connection problems when the full game's released (ha!), then it'll be worth it. Maybe
