World of Warcrack? anyone feeling the urge?

when i played WAR for a month i can see why they are addictive but it wasn't a good addiction. I hated the thing, but i couldn't stop playing becasue if i did my whole guild would out rank me. I had to level up to keep with them. Not fun. Plus personaly i dont like the communities attitude. Of corse its a horrible genrelisation and aimed at no one inparticular but i cant say i really enjoyed the feel from the MMO community i got from it all.

Having said that, the FPS one isn'ty much better either:p . Ill stick to RTS :p

That was exactly how wow was the first time 6 months ago, but I had the opposite with WAR, with war I couldnt be bothered to log in, it felt dull, lifeless, little twists and turns with the quests, and ridden with bugs.

I would also advise never let other guildmates bother you in terms of rank and attendence, when your trying to outrank someone, or prove yourself to a guild its much less fun. Ive found that allowing myself to get annoyed at other guildmates lowers my enjoyment of the game, there are plenty of casual guilds out there, so go and find another one..

Scott Hamshere, from Bromley, should have been the first person in the UK with a copy of the game. He had started queuing at 6am and was the first in line. However, as the barriers were lifted, it was all too much, and he collapsed from exhaustion. Instead it was 23-year-old Ben West, from Greenwich, who became the first person to own the game.

lol owned!

Its amazing how many people actually admit to seeing this game nearly ruin their lives.
Hey I've seen it happen to my best friend.
He literally didnt leave his house for over a year apart from to get cigarrettes and cola.
Even If I visited him he didnt stop playing.
WoW is a truly destructive force.

(and if you look at the numbers, its done potentially more damage than *insert any war + death toll here*)

Haha, I had the game before him, I got it off the net and it came Wednesday morning instead of going to the midnight launch, owned Mr. West.

WoW haters: GTFO, let us waste our lives in peace.

WoW is just a game, it was fun for me, yes i played it for 10+ hours a day 6-7 days a week at times. The only reason i stopped is due to 1) work and 2) the guild i was in broke up. Otherwise id still be there.

I went back on the 10 day trail, lvl 60 mage, questing alone, got ganked 1000's of times by level 70's dropping out the air every day. Was great fun, not. That alone was enough to make me give it up.

I now play eve, part time game seems made for peopel who have work and lives and a little bit of WAR.

Wow though was fun, good and easy to play. After the upgrade from 60 to 70, it killed it for me...

Weak. Don't roll on a PvP server unless you can take such things happening.

It was a PvP server and PvP i dont mind at all, but 4 level 70's jumping a lvl 60 mage, not really much fun is it. Then to camp the corpse, well, thats just plain boredom, no wonder people leave the game on mass if thats what people call fun now. This went on for over 2 hours. I went and leveled up a warrior instead and could see them sat there waiting for me to get back up lol, muppets.

Not weak, the weak players are the 4 level 70's needed to kill one level 60 mage. . :D

I think I camped someone for over an hour a few months ago.

...I was bored, and leveling Herbalism, but still it was pretty funny, you can't escape Druids.

They are called kids.....

I use to play it a lot, mostly because I had no job then and played with a lot of rl/long known online friends. It's more the social aspect for me.
But then I have not played it for years, just saying why people may like it so much.

But it's just one big epeen fest, everyone just wants to show off ;P

I cancelled my account back at the end of 06 or 07 (cant remember now lol). Obviously its more than 6 months.
Do you think I would be able to get my old Level 70 character back? Or is it now lost forever :( ?

Contact Blizzard, only they know for sure :)

As for me, played it tons over the weekend, got my DK up to 68. Going to level hard core to I get to the same level as everyone else (low 70's) then slow down and play a few hours a day.

I find the game not so much addictive, but a great time dump if nothing else to do that day.

Hmm let's see. I got into MMO's while at Uni. So much spare time, doing a degree in I.T., so it was like a "give me the final year tests now and i'll pass" situation.

Planetside, then Star Wars Galaxies, then EQ2, then WoW and everything in between. I stopped really after WoW for some reason, mainly because i was on a US server, but i think i just got more into going out with mates. Though i would do 10 hours sessions a day easily when i did play. I'd get up early to play. Eat at my desk, etc.

Now i play WAR and a similar pattern is forming a few years later, but it's not that bad, it's like this: I live with my gf, we both work, her on nights 3 days of the week. When i get home i go on WAR, when she gets home she goes on Facebook (i think she is addicted, there's people who spend all night on it, funny how it's not seen in a bad way like games? hmm). When we first moved in together, it was just TV, hollyoaks, eastenders, etc, etc, then bed. Now, that is seen as normal and healthy isn't it? 6 hours infront of the idiot box. People are so blind. I'm in the small % of people, like on here, who each evening, uses their minds, gets creative, interacts with people. Most people are TV watching hypocrites.

Still go out at weekends and occasionally midweek with gf, and this is good, because without MMO's, i easily blow £200 a weekend on going out, damaging my kidneys even more.

As for balance, well, i'll be starting a 2nd degree in Jan in Engineering and tbh, if you got a brain, it's easy to balance it all.

My gf tells me i shut out my family, my world is inside my PC, as she's there, browsing facebook looking for any hint of activity, unable to prize herself away. As everyone else is tuning into the newest reality TV zombie show. As workers go into the pub after a shift and get drunk.

In comparison to what the majority of this country do during the week, playing MMO's should be praised...

Good point.

I think its a great way to relax, I play with a few real life friends, raid a few times a week (well not at the moment obviously) but still work, see friends, go to the movies or whatever.

Some people don't though - but then that is more addictive personality.

I know someone who doesn't like wow but plays gears of war for almost 14 hours a day and isn't working currently - people will find something to be addicted too.

Good post V3g3tto,

Just a case of us and them again i guess with MMO's and WOW seems to be the Man UTD of mmo's you either love them or hate them. Every other gam eis ok to say you play, but not wow lol..

Still, it was a good game when i played it, lost interest at TBC and have no intention of playing again unless i found a good guild once more. Problem is, most of the people i know who played wow, dont play now, so no point playing it.

But it was a good game, like MIR used to be. Time moves on, so do players.

So, no, i wont be buying the expansion. I may have had a look if it came with 1 month free time... maybe... But for me WHammer and eve is enough to keep me going.

Hmm could you point me to whom I should contact? Cheers :)
