***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I dont own this yet, but the way I see it..

If a game priced at 20 quid gives me 20hrs + of enjoyment. Then Im happy.

Ive paid more money for games that may have more content, but they certainly dont grab ahold of me.

I dunno why people moan so much. I mean for example. Crysis Warhead. Great game. But that was 18 quid too, and it wasnt exactly full of content

Of course it's a mod it's just a mod with high production values with money behind it.

And you wont be seeing new levels any time soon all you will get is gameplay tweaks skins and maybe a couple of new zombies.

Like every other game released...I haven't seen anything added to Crysis etc? Or any other new games I've played recently.

I don't buy in to the hype you'll all be bored of this within a few weeks imo.

I won't be bored, as I'll be making some maps like I have been for the demo already.

I was bored of Far Cry after a few days, and bored of TF2 after about 3 hours....

I do like the game but the hype it's getting is not due.

Hype? There hasn't been much to be honest, there has been a thread on here? Like every other new release.

But I appreciate you all paying silly money for it as that can only help to bring the price down to a more realistic level for this currently short lived game.

Hah, silly money....£20? For a good 15 hours of single player play time? Plus the copious amounts of online campaign time? Plus the copious amounts of PvP time...It's good to me.

I brought Far Cry for £20, and I have had more fun with the demo of this than a fully fledged game :p

Obviously each to their own :)...Not everyone is going to love every game released naturally.

The I spent about 1-2 hours doing one bit! Its a bit more of a mod. It'll last longer then warhead and can be replayed many times.

Im sorry if this has been asked a million times already, But to play the demo right now do i have to buy the game from steam? Is there no other way other than waiting for the game to come out friday and then be able to play the demo?

Edit: Nevermind i worked out i have to buy it, To late for the demo apparently

The game is already out, the version on steam is ready to play right now. Other online retailers have already posted the game yesterday which should arrive tomorrow. General highstreet release is on Friday.

There is currently no demo available, you missed the boat for that one.

Yeah :(

Oh well, will have to wait till i get paid then to play this!

Half-Life 2 is renowned as a legendary game, yet I'm going to get far more enjoyment and playtime out of Left 4 Dead, and due to it's brilliance I've already had some more memorable gaming moments, due to the fact that I'm experiencing them with friends, and due to the impressive AI Director. And yet people complain about the price?!

A game can only be great unless it is single-player and heavily story driven? Pfft. This is a game that is pushing the boundaries of what we consider PC gaming, and I fully embrace the direction its taking it in.

As Valve intended, it bridges the gap between single player FPS and online multiplayer FPS. It does it brilliantly.

Anyone who has the audacity to call this game a "mod" is utterly clueless.

30 mins to play through half life ? surely you are talking about some silly speed run ? the very idea that you are knocking half life sees your credibility fly out the window.

And there's no need to suggest I'm an idiot for having my own opinion on the game and it's price just because you are in love with the games graphics.

I'll pick it up when it's £15 (which is all it's worth) when there's much more content added.

You sir, are silly.

Come on, £5 less and it suddenly makes all the difference?

You just seem like you've dug a hole too big...

It's £32 on steam for a 1/4 finished game buying it at full price just sends a message to developers that people are willing to pay for games
that aren't finished that are added to in time via content updates.

The next thing will be having to pay for content on top of this, I can see many more games being like this now after the success of L4D.

Is this game any better than the orange box ? are you all saying that its worth more than that which is £16.

1/4 finished? Where on earth did you get that figure from

It has 4 levels which is very very low and will have content updates to bring it closer and closer to a full game.

I can make max payne 2 which is a short game last 5 hours to play through just as you can make this very fast to play through.

I like the game but I don't like the hype and OMFG this is GOTY nonsense when it's clearly just a mod like TF2 was but without TF2's realistic price.

It doesn't only have four levels though....That's the thing.

Have you even played it? Or looked at the game for that matter?

It's going to have content updates...GOOD!!! Added bonus to be quite honest =/

No other games I know of and currently play have FREE content updates from they're developers.

I played the demo and got bored after about 4 runs through and have watched the game played through on justin tv 4 player podcast and couldn't believe how shallow and short it was.

Fallout 3 goty this doesn't even come close only people who will like this game that much are graphics whores.

This game reminds me in a way of world in conflict everyone was like wow this is the best game ever but after everyone got over the graphics soon realised it was about as deep as a puddle.

Anyway I will leave it at that as some people call others idiots and retards just for having an opinion and voicing it rightly or wrongly.

I haven't touched fall out 3, and I don't intend to, I can see it getting boring very quickly.

Graphics? Hah, they aren't exactly ' amazing' now are they? That hardly made me 'want' to play the game :p

errr, why are people moaning about the price on steam? you can get it cheaper elsewhere. When you judge a product by its value you use the lowest price available. Who cares if it costs more in shop A, just go buy it in shop B where its cheaper.

what L4D offers is a new gaming experience. Some people dont seem to appreciate the value of innovation. There may have been games like this around before, but i havent played any, so to me and many others by the looks of things £19 is a great price for such a game.
