Who claims PC gaming is dying ? LOL

Consoles are out of date as soon as there manufactured.

Which makes PC gaming the true next generation platform.

S while many people are in the dark on the capabilities and market value of the pc for gaming, it appears many people (in this forum at least) are still in the dark about the mental capabilities of console players.

I am a long time pc gamer here, but moving more and more to consoles for gaming. And it's not because I am somehow getting dumber...

It's merely personal choice. The xbox provides me with an overall more fun gaming experience IMO. Thats the only "argument" I need.

I still have a pc for gaming.... I just don't want to use it for that as much :)

That's not the case for me as the PC rules by a long way for me & i also own a PS2/XBOX/XBOX360/PSP.

THE 360 online community has allot unfriendly & insulting players that even some of my console exclusive friend don't like to play on random servers & play between ourselfs online or just play single player.

Its not as profitable as console , because of all the money they waste on anti-pirate mesures they invest in, which still dont stop it being released a day early 100% working.

If they make quality games, that apeal the the mass's it will sell, things like fallout 3 didnt seem to have any problem selling, even tho its single player.

I can see it getting to the point where they spend more on DRM, then they do on the actuall game. That type of game WONT sell, and bangrupt the company that creates it.

There is nothing wrong with the PC hardware market. Don't need rocket science for that.....the problem is the games don't sell anywhere near as good as the console market.

Publishers always cite piracy as the problem but its far more than that. Crap ports, rubbish games, obtrusive DRM is more likely the main reasons....

...and the fact that a lot of us tend to buy one game and stick with it for a long time. WoW anyone? Not to mention online shooters - I played BF2142 for at least six months solid. Then there's the huge number of free mods that people play - sales figures just don't tell the whole story and I'm glad someone's pointed this out.

Clearly companies like Epic only put down PC gaming because they've sold themselves out to Microsoft.

I have just got rid of my ps3 and upgraded my pc to be able to play games, i love the pc dont know why i got a ps3.

I love the fact i can mod my games and online gaming is more stable through the pc.

I like being able to increase game res and change things to my liking.

Also pc owns when it comes to role playing games.

PC Games offer the publishers almost twice the profit margin of console games as no royalty licence fees to pay to the platform holders so even if a PC game sells half as much the profits are still the same.

Surely the fees to platform holders are the reason console games are much more expensive than a pc game?

Personal Computers are and always will be better then a console. fact.

We are the next generation.

The big problem is that there no one backing up pc gaming. The same way Sony defends their playstation brand and Microsoft their xbox. all these hardware companies make so much money from us but they dont give a damn. Pc gaming alliance was just a publicity stunt... companies such as nvidia, ati and intel need to take some serious action or they will see their profits plummet sooner or later.

PC gaming will never die but you cant deny its being held back. Looking at some recent examples of franchises that were once PC exclusive you cant help thinking that they could have been so much better.

The real problem behind this is that console players are morons, but not mentally deficient enough to render them unable to post things on the internet.

Out of curiosity, why do you endeavor to insult those that simply have a different platform of choice to play games on? I often post in the console section of this forum and see no evidence of it being more moronic than any other gaming demographic. Just because someone decides to get a console to take advantage of the wealth of games on offer that aren't available on the PC you brand them a moron? I think you need to seriously rethink your basis of judgment of character.

For the record, i game on both my PC and consoles, both have their strengths and weaknesses and rate them both equally.

A very good point. As i said, each has their strengths and weaknesses, we need more games that fully take advantage of what the PC has to offer. Personally I would like to see the return of games like Bauldurs Gate etc.

I agree to a certain extent.

Consoles are good at some things, PC's are better at the majority of things.

My expirence of gaming online however leads me to believe that xbox live is populated by a lot of children. (you could call them morons)
I find less of these creatures online on my PC.

Online gaming with pc's is a lot better for me as it is mostly free, take away MMO's, then you've got FPS's, RTS's. All playable online without a montly charge like xbox live.

Only thing I can doff my hat to consoles for is Guitar hero :D

We bought an XBox 360 and it's useful for a quick blast or titles like Colin McRae Dirt which came with Starforce on the PC which I won't let near my system with a bargepole.

Also had a PS3 for a while but mainly for BluRay playback, now there's plenty of cheap BD players around we sold it on second hand.

You are never going to see titles like Flight Sim on the consoles or for that matter train sims or strategy games which come with map or world editors. You also need a PC to run the attendant 3D modelling programmes (e.g. 3D Canvas).

I could never see a title like X3 Reunion or TC going on the console - one of the reasons I could never really get into GTA IV on the PS3 is that it felt like I was tying up the TV for extended periods of time whereas on the PC you just sit back and chill out with a GTA game.
