How much juice for a single 4870 1gb?

Thanks fella, so the way i read it my Tagan 800bz is more than sufficient for a 48701gb Crossfire upgrade in the future?

If you're considering upgrading the system in your rig, you'll be fine with that 800W Tagan. In fact you could easily run quad core and quad Crossfire with that monster.

If you're just curious, then an average Core 2 Duo system with a 4870 will run happily on a decent 450W PSU.

edit:

Yes, easily. :)

Have a look at the 12V rails, then check the list for the 4870 in CF and if the wattage on your 12V rails are higher than the amount the CF'd 4870's use it should be fine. (providing this info is right) :p

If you with eon for your electric they will send you a free watt meter to show in realtime how much your using for the house. Should be pretty easy to use something like that to find out exactly how much each component uses idling, full power, etc

I have read that a 4870 under full load uses 310 watts though, 2 of those puppys are gonna almost max out my PSU, not to mention my other components. Are you sure, or is my maths wrong it wouldn't be a first and for the sake of my earnings I hope it is, PSU are expensive esp that Tagan one I bought. :-Z

Always get the best re : future proof, I have an Enermax Galaxy 1000watt and its probably one of the comparitively few true psu's around. I'd at least recommend you get an 800 - 900 watt one, whatever the make.

2 4870s don't use 620W on their own, that's rubbish. See beh*'s post for proof:

I run the below setup on a 620HX so you should be fine :)

:)

I think i'm going to get a Plug-In Mains Power and Energy Monitor from a well known high street electronics retailer as they are only 9.95 and i'd be interested to see just how many watt's i'm using @ load :) Will post results ASAP.
