I dunno, the standard is very high now:
Jag 2.7 TDVi 207 PS, 435 Nm, 35.7 mpg combined dragging 1659 kg
BMW 3.0 730d 245 PS, 540 Nm, 39.2 mpg combined dragging 1940 kg
Great episode, another nice mix of humour and motoring.
However, I was really expecting Clarkson to run out of petrol, then arrive in a TVR (As everyone knows this would have been the best way to arrive in Blackpool

Also, did anyone else notice the whopping great dent in the Veyrons driver-side door?

Hmm so the 750 odd miles they were to cover there shouldn't really have been a problem then? I'm failing to see really the amazingness of the 'race' other than the fact that the jag is awesome and with a 1000 mile range and probably £100 odd quid to fill it up actually seems quite economical. I'd buy it for a dollar.
