***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

it was humping me

That the one on top of the building with the ammo store and radio in the room below the minigun ?

If it is, then we played this last night, took a good hour and a half. The two little higher box areas connected by pipes to the main minigun platform, left and right, both or one of them has a number of molotovs and pipe bombs there. You need a person on each, then someone on the minigun for the start vs the hordes, then someone protecting the miniguner.

Use the odd pipe bomb, and save your molotovs for when the 2 tanks come. Also one person should save a pipe bomb for when the helicopter lands as all hell breaks loose. I was already dead from the tank as I had low HP when he was catching me up, so I molotovd myself and him, then the final 2 guys got to the chopper whilst holding off the hordes with their last m4 clip. My brother left it late and valiantly fought his way through 2/3 hordes, then just as he attempted to jump up to *** helipad, a hunter pinned him and all was lost. The other 2 were laughing their heads off as the chopper took off with them.

Awesome game, will be playing it non stop every noght when I get home from work this week and for many weeks up until xmas. Credit crunch... Bah, who needs to go out when you have this game.

Thanks for the help

Sounds like you had as much trouble as us, except you made it in the end :)

I was planing to you my PC as the server, while aslo playing on it. Would that not be possible? I am pretty sure it would, see my sig for my PC spec.

So your saying if I open 27000 and follow that guide why I have, it should work?

Cheers.

It'll be fine.

I've managed to run two/three servers and play at the same time on my C2D 3.2/4gigs ram/8800GTS640

That was pushing it somewhat admittedly...

My router has a build in list of games which you can select from which open the porst. Here is the Half Life 2 ports that are opened. Would this work if I chose this:

TCP 27030 - 27039
UDP 1200 - 1200
UDP 27000 - 27015

Also do i need to do anything else that is not covered on the tutorial @ left4dead411?

i played advanced, and omfg.... its boring as hell. Its dead easy. Medi kits everywhere, the tank is dead easy to kill and your health lasts forever.

I much prefer Expert... its just soooo hard its funny.

Exactly, even when you get bum raped on expert, it creates more of a fun atmosphere than anger, as sometimes there is nothing you could do about it with those pesky zombies conspiring against you.

It gives you even more determination to carry on, and keeps you playing together for hours. Not something i have experienced before in a game. Even good old TF2 can relaly **** me off on occasions.

As long as they are set to forward to the PC that's running the server, shouldn't be any problems.

For myself, I just manually forwarded 27000-27015 to the server PC.

I really enjoy playing the game, but keep getting really severe lag... i'm pretty certain its not my connection but the L4D servers. anyone else getting this?

The lobby system sadly can often put you on a server with not the greatest ping...

The other issue is the higher than average resource usage of the server - I can imagine many server admins not realising this and hence overloading their servers.

i find that advanced is easier then normal, i figure this is because norm is default so everyone good/bad piles onto this difficulty so you don't always get a 'smooth' game :) at least with advanced you get mostly good players on their... and a few experimenting between difficulties :p

also lag plays a massive part in how hard a game can be which ofcourse effects all difficulties :(

I haven't had any issues whatsoever with finding a decent server to play on. Probably because on campaign mode I just host local (having the highest upload of my friends) and if we want to play versus I just make the Swedish member of our team host it. Green pings all the way. :D

one issue i have had with this game is loading times, am i right in believing that the time it takes to load is partially dependent on other players loading times??? (a bit like C&C games where each players gets their own loading bar?)
