Motors is tired of spec me threads where the user ends up doing exactly the opposite of what everyone reccomends, as they originally had decided; thus making the thread entirely pointless.
See the thread about a guy buying a overpriced Fiat Bravo for far too much money despite him being told from all angles that it was an idiotic idea.
. I thnk thats a shame... ah well getting plenty of suggestions now!
I'll present my case:

So here we are in "Servers and Enterprise Solutions" and a someone (clearly been around OcUK for a while posts a question about some (ooollllddd) server hardware. The guy gets a load of stick for nothing, my post is polite of course. But on average a lot of useful comments, with some nonesense thrown in.
) from Servers and Enterprise just don't expect it to be sugar coated or diplomatic!2] http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17945660
In this one I reply, the guy has figured out his own problem, but I post a few tips.

This is my own post, about wanting to buy a new car. Thought I'd check with the OcUKer's about whats a decent bet. This is no different than "spec me a computer" thread in GH so why all the negativity in their posts. Whats more surprising that the really useful most was by a guy called Lam who'd just joined and had 11 posts!

Why does it vary so much? Confuses me!

Pfft I guess I should take up photography then I'd be 100% ocuk for sure!biking pro
What sort of biking?

I do feel that the BMW love is a little on the contrived side but in general the Motors advice is sound, just be prepared for people to give their opinion however blunt and that advice applies to all forums here.
Since you're a "long time member" you should know not to derail threads and take this kind of chat to msn... especially not your own!
That's just weird![]()

Lol LordSlodge! Well I'm a car n00b, biking pro, programming experienced Xbox 360 owning and apple owning whilst PC loving member perhaps I shouldn't be surprised to experience different reactions to my posts!Pfft I guess I should take up photography then I'd be 100% ocuk for sure!

nothing sexy about bikes.

feel free to flame me with "OMFG your so not pro, my nan rode 600's and never fell off you n00b" but that'll just get you a

People only ever tend to notice the negative posts and not the many positive ones. Which is why half this forum is convinced I think anything that isn't a 5 Series is rubbish given I barely recommend them to anyone.

)I wouldn't really say that was a lot of stick, I'd say that it was brutal honesty. Selling on a dual PII poweredge these days is going to be difficult. There's not really a counter arguement.
To be fair, I've read very few posts from you that have come across as remotely "friendly" - fair enough you may be offering good advice, but if you didn't word it so clinically people would probably be less inclined to have their feathers ruffled
To answer the OP, each subsection has certain people that enjoy causing confusion and annoyance, just ignore them - motors unfortunately, like the console forum has more than its fair share (not you fox dont worry)
