Demolishing the house...Tech ideas

Wouldn't it be easier for you to remove the glass before demolishing the house?

They do that anyway all part of the cost.

Home cinema is a must,

I'm building an overflow area now in a double garage to see me through the next 18 months of the build.

The double garage is not attached to the house.

We have a 1 and half acre plot

A bat cellar doesn't quite have the same ominous ring to it, but I suppose Bruce had to get planning permission too.

You said you had all that :D It's basically home automation centrally controlled. The Wiki article explains it quite well.

Bought platter.

This thread is about ideas .

what if?

Could I?

etc..

Why employ a company to spec me a HTPC? LOL

I want real ideas from real people. Not an easy cheque sign.

Gaming system at the end of the bath. Waterproof keyboard and mouse, with pullout mousemat. That would be amazing

You can pick and choose which bits of X10 you want to use.

It's a protocol, lots of people have developed stuff to use it.

What you're saying is akin to saying 'I don't want to use TCP/IP because it's all on a plate for me' when I point you to a website :p

What you want to do easyrider, is just buy a cheap fold out screen that looks really gash and blocks a window or something. What's the point of doing it properly. :D

Make sure all the walls in the house are solid, makes the house much more silent. Having a solid floor on the first floor also a bonus to stop noise travelling between floors.

Obviously this leads to some difficulty with running wires etc but does allow for proper under floor heating upstairs too.

One useful point is to have a service duct or riser like commercial buildings do. It allows you to send services (water, gas, LAN, power etc) between the floors in one central location.
Personally I’d also consider building a basement for a games room or home cinema 

one thing i'd do..

put copper pipes under the floor (in the cement) and have two point coming out where your pc will be, you can use watercooling to gently heat your floor :)
