Opinons on 4870 and GTX260

4850x2 review was not an old review and it was still faster than a gtx280. 2x4850 are faster than a gtx280 end of story.

I assume you did not see the game benches last week using the new Beta driver that give massive (no BS truly) gain on the GTX280 ?

Every game that got a gain was by large amount (not 1-5FPS), 2 games were down a few FPS but gained in SLI.

Edit: Off to try find link to it.

No such thing as zero hassle when it comes to gpu's have you actually read any of the topics on here lol. Devious seemed to think the 4850's were smooth enough over the gtx280 also. The other point is he will only really have to spend around £130 to get gtx280 performance.

Read my comments. I HAVE used 2 4850's in crossfire. I did not like them at all. Wether the drivers/games need more tweaking to get it flawless i dont know, but im not keen atm.

I want to go for a single card solution atm. in general ppl have less problems with them, i have found that to be the case. Im not a vivid Nvidia/Ati fan so wanted to know what ppl think.
After reading im coming round the the gtx260. dont know why, as they are pretty much the same and i have a xfire board. Maybe the fat that it will OC better than the 4870.
The only thing thats stopped me buying it is lack of DX10.1 support, im still trying to find out what sort of impact that has.

@ Swordfish125, Remember Nvidia can add DX10.1 support (not sure if all aspects) through another part of the GPU (I cannot remember the details but it was a game a few months ago).

Hope you know what I'm talking about lol, someone will no doubt remember details and chime in. ;)

Not from what i read but i may be wrong.

Whats puts me off is i know that Nvidia will release a new card in a few months supporting dx10.1 and with ddr5 memory as well. I want new card now though :(

I took the plunge and ordered myself(xmas present:D) an XFX 260 GTX Black Edition. Maybe I could have saved myself a few quid but the reviews twisted my arm.
