hello all.

been told by the docs my memorymight come back fully tommorrow or in 10 years or never!

That is such a scary thought. Seems incredible that you have retained your long-term memory, basics, even intricacies such as car makes/models, but yet have "forgotten" such day-to-day things like peoples names and your daily routines.

I guess you are just having to take each day as it comes, and are re-learning along the way.

My hat gets raised to you regardless, not many people can say that they fight back this hard after such a life changing accident!

Back around 1981 a mate of mine had a bad car crash and he couldn't even remember his wife & kids.
He had to go home and live with people he didn't know and he had total memory loss.
One day she was driving past my house and Dave said "I wonder if Pooley has still got his Mattel Intellivision?"
She stopped the car, asked him if he remembered me, he nodded and then knocked on my door.
He hadn't got the slightest clue who I was.
However, helpimcrap, over the next few years virtually all his memory came back so hold on in there.

Ahhh back in the day dmpoole. :p

Everything will work out helpimcrap.

Can anyone point me to the background?

Am I correct in assuming he's been in a crash and is now suffering from amnesia?

All the same, glad to hear you're getting better OP, even if it is a slow one.

Can't find the original.. But heres a summary

mr imcrap said:
take one motorbike crash into a van...
add me and the driver (unharmed i think)
add 3+ breaks to bottom of left leg, pin in left thigh, broken left arm/wrist/hand (+ pins), shattered right arm, damaged nerves on right, 2 broken bones in face and pin in hip and metalwork in right elbow,oh and bruised brain,+ 2 x collapsed lungs and about 30hrs surgery + about a week of my mum being told they have less than 24 hrs with me. i have to wear glasses to read due to my broken bones which 'might' go away, and i need 1 more op to remove bone growths from right arm

cheers mate, thats an optimistic story and with the brain holding so much potential it gives me hope.. :)

one thing which i appreciate is the nurses telling me i was one of the nicest people they had met but without question i was THE most determined person they had ever known!

that was nice to hear - it hadn't gone unnoticed. as i said to them each, there's no if's/but's/maybe's only WILL. every thing they asked me to do i'd done without question and a week after going home i'm stilll spending 2 hrs doing physio each day......

I don't know if you're trying to be funny or not, but it seriously isn't funny. Do you know what helpimcrap has been through? Perhaps you should read up.

It's good to hear you're getting about and getting back into the flow of your life before the crash. :)

Any news of when you're getting back on the bike?
