The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die

Why does a group's music have to remain the exact same style for over 10 years? Answer: it doesn't. I like this track and eagerly await the new album.

This track had so much potential but two major things are wrong:

1) The Pendulum style squarky synth on the main riff just sound so stuck on and out of place. It's a far too clean sound for a prodigy track...so so cheesy.

2) The "We are the prodigy" sample......just as I predicted Liam seems convinced people will forget who the band are and thinks he has to remind us. He did this on Baby's got a Temper by dropping a Firestarter sample into the middle of it. Maybe it's so we don't think it's Pendulum...or maybe it's to do with my next point:

Liam seems to think far too much these day about styling and the audience, I truly believe that the idea of this track is to attract a new younger crowd.....the Pendulum generation. This is the reason for the Radio1 play and free download, to get the kiddies on board and tell them who they are "We are the prodigy"....I know for a fact the rest of the album will be different, it annoys me that they would pull this kind of stunt.

This track could be reworked into something great, but alas it's too late. The only saving grace is that I know it will sound good on a huge system....but for home listening it just doesn't work.

I agree about the trying to get the kids and new generation in. I was watching some interviews the other day, and even in 1997 he was thinking like that. All about the audience and market. I mean fair enough really.

But the thing with The Prodigy is, they dont need any of this, that is what makes them so damn good.

Never the less, i dont want it to go like Pendulum, and im feeling it will, but nothing can hold back what they have already done, so these new kids can just f off as they probably cant even remember The Prodigy from then so!

Yep, these days it appears Liam is insecure about his work and worries too much about the critics....but this destroys the work.

I mean you listen to something like Poison and it's just a world away from where we are now, do you think he was sat there contimplating the reception poison would get, or if it was trendy enough....was he ****, he just wanted to write a tune to blow peoples heads off.

I see what you guys are saying and I really agree, it's not at all like their older stuff, here's hoping for the rest of the album to kick ass.

On another note, anyone know where the vid for it is on their website =S

Listening to it more, if someone had told me it was Pendulum's new single I wouldn't be surprised (well other than the 'we are the prodigy' bits)

sounds like bloody dioyy or hadouken or other cheesy day glow bands. that sound has been and gone. bit crap for a next year release

gutted after warriors got my hopes up

I can cope with a weak song, fair enough it's happened before, but what really worries me is that this is the track the album is named after...

Really hope when the video appears later today we are told this is another pendulum remix...

I like it, not the epic track many were expecting but its not too bad. Still looking forward to the album and tour next year.
