500gb hdd only shows 130gb

did a quick ntfs format on a 500gb hdd and its only showing 130gb, how do i got about getting it to show the full 500gb or there abouts.

This is the hdd

Sounds like you're using XP and don't have any service packs installed.

You need at least SP1 to show more than 137GB.

hmm ive installed sp1 and sp2 :/

Is Bios set for LBA (48bit)?

Ah, well i reset the CMOS earlier to lose the raid settings which seemed to stick on every hdd in the system, making it not recognise them.

What setting does is need to be set at?

Normally AUTO for all recent years Mobos, just drop down menu from auto and see the settings you have.

If you installed using a plain unservice packed copy then the initial partition will only be 130Gb. You can use something like gparted to extend the partition to the full 500Gb.
