Because it's one of those "It'll be ready when it's ready" projects. They're not getting paid for their work, so there's no deadline.

It'll be released sometime in 2009 if possible.

No I'm not; they haven't released a date yet, but we're not getting "excited about nothing" because clearly progress is being made. Albeit slowly, but that's to be expected.

It's been in progress since HL2 was released, and "progress" has been being made since, who says they're gonna speed things up now? Trust me there's nothing to get excited about

Yes there is, they are now releasing very polished media, and it is looking brilliant. If they hadn't said 2009 I would still be hyped. We are allowed to be hyped!

Anyway, this is the first release date we have ever had, sure it's quite vague, but we know to expect the game in 2009. Why isn't that reason to celebrate?

Epic delay of doom.

I will definately download and play this all the way through, probubly twice, but it wont have as much of a wow factor about it as it would have done if they had managed to get it out a few years back

I'm ashamed to say I never played through the whole of half life, just the first quarter probably, this might make me play through it all.

Probably my favourite section of the whole game.
