 I work hard and am never idle. its not hard to see how having lazy people not clear their tables is annoying. People piling there food onto there trays is not so bad, but those who dump stuff everywhere is annoying. You wouldn't do that in any other cafe or restaurant.

I always bin it because I feel bad not to but it does cost jobs, you can't say it just makes the work harder - if the work was easier they'd hire less people, you'd work just as hard and macdonalds would make more money.

It may seem a small thing but at some point there is just too much work for x people and they hire someone else, part of that work will include cleaning tables.

I seriously doubt people leave their rubbish on the tables out of sheer goodwill and heart, and consideration for jobs. Seriously seriously doubt it. If they leave rubbish on the tables, it's because they're lazy and impolite. That's all there is to it. I will only view it as a weak justification for being a lazy slob scuffer chav etc etc.

Why does everyone here put it in the bin???
It's their ****ing job to do that

It's the glass collectors job to collect glasses, doesn't stop me putting it on the bar and saying cheerio to the landlord though.

Street cleaners need work, but I don't throw my litter on the floor.

Ever had a staff canteen? They have places to put your tray when you've finished, if you didn't bother they'd clean your table, eventually. In the meantime other diners have to find another place to sit or eat surrounded by your debris.

You can do it because your nice, because it looks messy, or to not inconvenience others. Or you can just not bother, I do too sometimes, we all do, but if you don't feel in the least bit bad for leaving a mess your just a slob.

Always bin it, I was brought up to clean up after myself.
Can I ask what you do in a 'proper' restaurant then? Do you wrestle the plates out of the waiter's hand screaming 'NO! I WILL CLEAN UP MY OWN MESS! LET ME DO IT! IT'S MIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!' ?

I don't really go there often, but when I do I normally bin it just because there is a lot of bins. However I don't see why people are on a high horse about respect, they advertise as a restaurant, do you people help take away the dishes after a meal at a proper restaurant? No, it's what the staff are there to do, no disrespect, just their job.

We've gotten over the McDonalds/Restaurant slant quite some time ago, the general consensus is that rubbish and trays in McDonald's are treated differently to actual restaurant customs. If you honestly believe you do the same things in a McDonald's as you do in an actual proper restaurant, and vice versa you're poorly mistaken, and the only arguments left here are over semantics.

Nicely said. I wanted to say that but couldn't work out a way to say it.

If Maccies are gonna claim they are a restuarant, then I'll treat it as one.
bet you feel silly now.

McDonalds is busy enough so that customers are constantly looking for seats and are not given seats as in a 'proper' restaurant. Its not a fair comparison at all.

Leaving your rubbish in McDonalds at a table is like leaving rubbish after a picnic on a park bench waiting for the park warden to clean it up. Its just rude to others who want to use the bench afterwards. Its clear that the bench will often not be cleaned fast enough by staff before the next family wants to use it. The same can be said for tables at McDonalds.

What about a cafe or coffee shop. You pick your own table there and pay at the till. Do you take your plates and mugs up to them there? How has McDonalds got this unique status of restaurant/not a restaurant?
