I bin it but if the bin flap is dirty then i won't. They always swing back on your hands.
Saying that though, i reckon they should employ one person to clear and clean the tables. Even if the table has been cleared the table isn't usually clean.

What about a cafe or coffee shop. You pick your own table there and pay at the till. Do you take your plates and mugs up to them there?

Sometimes. Sometimes not. An empty cup is not as disruptive as a tray of food so its not really comparable either.

They do, but they expect that person to clean the toilets, empty bins, clear the carpark and take orders out to cars. Which of course during busy times one person cannot do.

Then, as i said, they should employ a person just to do the tables and perhaps the floor. It's hardly going to make much of a dent in their profits given the wages staff are paid.

In a cafe? Say you've purchased a plate of sandwiches or some cake? Now there's an empty cup and an empty plate...

I don't know why people are even arguing about it. Have some manners and get off your arses and put your rubbish in the bin, it's not difficult.

Which can be moved to make room for another cup and plate without hassel

A tray can not be removed without a much larger inconvenience (taking it to the bin area). Secondly, McDonalds provides you with a bin and a place to put used trays, whilst a coffee shop does not. I don't really see how you are trying to argue that this is anything else but inconsiderate behaviour...

I clear my rubbish... I don't mind too much when other people don't, after all it is a restaurant, but what does get on my nerves is when people turf their rubbish out the car window in the car park.
It's not very nice walking around a rubbish heap on your way back to your car.

Depends on where the bin is and how much of a rush im in. If they have taken 20 minutes to cook my food and I need to belt then itll be left, if im not in a rush, ill bin it. At the end of the day the staff are paid to keep their restaurant clean and tidy, just like im paid to keep my shop clean and tidy.

This is a good thread for separating the prats from the good guys. Might make a list and block all the prats or something. (if thats possible)

As I've already explained by cleaning your tray you are doing someone out of a job. This means someone is made redundant as there is less to do. This is my main reason.

The fact that McDonalds seems to be completely anomalous because they installed bins is a mere side-point. If the installed bins at Wagamamas would you feel compelled to start cleaning up?

It's a bit like how people feel compelled to tip taxi drivers and service staff yet it wouldn't even enter their mind to tip people on other low paid jobs.
