Shawshank Redemption

Epic bump from me, for an epic film. Can't believe I've put off watching this. Finaly came out from under my rock, and thought it was simply brilliant!

Agree with the above, the final scene on the beach is great.

Says number 1. However anything that has the godfather that high up the top is questionable since it is a utterly boring film(s).

It's number 1 now but might well have been number 2 back in January when the thread was started :p
 
Nice to see a thread about a fantastic film where everyone's in agreement about how good it is. :)

I have to stop myself from watching this too often. I never want to be tired of it.

I'm glad it didn't win any Oscars. I hate all of that 'aren't we great actors/directors/people' nonsense. The fact that it's No.1 on that IMDB list shows how wrong the Oscars are.
 
yeah, some of the recent big films that were big oscar winners i have found to be rubbish or just been completely uninterested in seeing.
Shawshank though, epic film, very very good :]
 
Couldn't agree more - my missus made me watch it for the first time a couple of weeks back. Absolutely brilliant film, everyone at work was laughing at me the next day when I went in raving about it.
Cant recomend it enough - a must see film

They were laughing at you, why? Was it because they were laughing at the fact you had only just seen it recently and not a few years back? If so then thats stupid! I still haven't watched the first 2 wars movies from start to finish. Would your work colleagues laugh at me too?
 
A decent film but imo not a very re-watchable one. Nothing beats that moment with the poster though when you first watch it.
 
To the people who say it is/isnt in their top 3/5 what else are?

Or more importantly to the ones that dont have it in their Top 3/5 what is?

This is easily my favourite film, but I would love to see some that are as good as this if not better :D

It should be on at Christmas like The Great Escape is :p
