Grand Theft Auto 4

I would like the handling fixed first. If console owners were jealous of anything it would be the fact we can mod it.

Yea, the fact you can't go round a corner at a million mph without crashing is such a pain.

Its more real life than GTA SA and i'm pleased because that game sucked.

Guessing on my single core and 1GB of ram with a 7800GS Gainward AGP. Even at lowest settings it will suck my FPS to 10?

Or will it be ok? Tbh, I'm not in for the eye candy until I get my new system in January. I'd just like to play this as a pass time.

Royal mail are ******* ****! Street on here works with me, we pre ordered the same day, both dispatched the same day (monday) and his has just arrived to work now and no sign of mine! Very ****** off!

Ok I only played for a few minutes but I wasn't going that fast. It seemed very unrealistic to me. I'm all for realism but then again I'm playing a game about theft and murder. I can be shot several times and still stand up. I can steal endless amounts of cars and if the cops don't see me but the public do I get away with it?!

if you play at 480x320 it might be 10 :p, i'd wait mate

Allegedly I pass the "minimum requirements" and only just miss the CPU requirement of recommended and I only have an 8600GT card...somehow I think they were a little optimistic.

Hopefully they'll release a patch that fixes this as the graphics really don't look that special - certainly not even up to Gears of War level and that ran smooth as silk on this underpowered machine.

R* fail lol.

"This application could not be started because WMVCore.dll could not be found"

I know it can't be found, that's because I MADE SURE I did not have any of the WMP crap installed.

When will companies learn to bundle any 3rd party stuff they want?

So whats the MP like, it was a waste of time on the console mainly because you couldnt filter out any servers. They all had autoaim enabled and it just came down to who was the first person to press the shoulder triggers, nobody missed, it just wasnt fun.

But Im hoping to get some 4v4v4v4 teamdeath match games going with a few people on servers without autoaim or blobs on the map (only show up on the map when they are at a medium range from you, to make sure people dont get lost).

When will end users learn to not pull bits of the operating system out of their installs and then wonder why things don't work?

Nothing at all wrong with WMP.

I didn't pull it out :)

I happen to be running Server 08 without desktop experiences installed as I get it free from Uni, and I do not want desktop experiences.

Equally, I'm pretty sure the same problem would be present in the "N" versions of Vista as they have no WMP either.

I've bought this on steam just for a bash around.

Now why the heck isn't it downloading, it stays at the downloading starting status for ages. :\

EDIT: Seems you have to pause updating, then resume updating then it works. FFS pile of poo.

To be fair, you can't blame Rock* for not designing and bundling their software to work on server and business (Business N) class operating systems.

You stated that you made sure that you didn't have that "WMP crap" installed. a) its not crap, and b) you could enable it (I know this, as my 2nd server is S2008ent).

I had that problem with Steam too. Pausing/resuming didn't work for me but it did restart the download when I tried to run the game.

now from what ive seen, this handles nicely on my system
only had about half an hour as ive had to go into the office for an hour, but after the initial error problem and a phonecall to take2 to sort it out, im playing at 1680 res, high, and shadows at 50% everything else is cranked up. and it plays nicely
this is with a 8500 @ 3.9 and a 260 core 216

BSOD/RMN10 errors

take2 told me to log out of social club thing, start the game, when it asks u to log in say no, the game will then load, then in the game find a safe house and login there, this worked for me

A mere day after release, countless bugs and problems have plagued buyers.

* The crash-to-desktop bug is rampant, a "fatal zlib20 error". No known solution yet.
* Securom must be running at all times while the game is running. Closing it results in the game closing too.
* SecuROM will often crash, resulting in your game not starting at all.
* The reason the menu screen was black for me for so long is because it must download a file every time you start the game, since the menu background is actually an online updating news page.
* The newest Geforce Drivers: version 180.48, are not compatible with GTA IV.
* The Windows Live update supports Vista 32bit only. If you have Windows Vista 64bit, you can not play.
* The game does not support, nor recognise, SLI card set ups of any of the Geforce 8600 or 8800 card series.

Oh dear...:o
