The facts..

• You need to actively download the virus from the internets (that's web common sense really..)
• You need to actively enter your system password to install said virus (any app requiring root access should be treated with caution)
• You need to actively click "open" when the new-app system warning message appears (If you aren't sure what you just installed at this point, is it even wise to allow the app to run?)

Simply put - If you get a virus after these 3 basic warnings, you don't deserve to own a Mac, let alone surf the web

Unless the writer just wanted to destroy your home directory...which is "your computer" by any measurable means.

Depends, if you're dealing with a worm then you don't need to actively download it at all, it'll do the job for you (it might exploit a vulnerability on your web browser's rendering engine, for example, to get onto your computer). It might even be user-friendly enough to piggyback onto an already installed application that you need to give root access to once in a while.
