Why would i want to offer a bribe? A proper MOT only costs £25

I just dont get the nervousnous and black art surrounding MOT's. It's bizarre.

You go along, you pay 26 quid, you let somebody molest your car for an hour then you pick it up.

there is no black art, but if you have a de-cat or something similar that isnt a serious component issue/failure, and you cant be bothered to put the cat back on for that 1 hour of the MOT, and the MOT tester knows its going to be de-catted again straight away, then why not slip him a tenner and let it be
