Alcohol Free Beer

Personally I can't see the point, if I want to drink beer then I'll drink the real stuff, if I don't want to get any of the effects then I'll drink pop instead.

However, each to their own I guess. :)

You can't get "pop" that tastes like "beer" - what if you want beer without the alcohol? Perfectly valid 'point'.

Why would I want to drink beer without alcohol in it? My CAMRA membership would automatically cancel itself I did. Like I said, I'll drink pop like I do if I'm driving.

I tried some before and it didn't taste right, personally for me the taste and the effects have to go together. Its not like their the best tasting drinks either imo.

Had some Kaliber, as someone bought me it out of sympathy as I was driving. After the initial embarrassment, it was more than bearable.

Someone gave me a Becks last Christmas at their house, I was halfway down the bottle before realising they'd accidentally bought non-alcoholic. I declined taking the others home with me though. Also bearable, if a little dry.

Friends off caffeine and beer atm, and is diabetic - poor guy :(

In his case alcohol free beer is the most bearable thing on the menu - when it's even available.

Non-alcoholic drinks just don’t do anything for me, it is either the real thing or nothing at all.

They taste different, in a bad way - it's just that they're missing some ingredient without replacing it with anything. Tastes like flat lager to me.

The Erdinger is better because it has that clove taste (like leffe) which is unusual enough to me to take my mind off the missing alcohol taste.

Best I had was a 0.5% cider from tesco though, it was no old rosie for sure but I'd happily take it instead of things like strongbow.

As the line goes -
"Alcohol Free beer, it's like going down on your sister. It tastes the same, but you just know it's wrong"

Sorry, but the use of the words 'free' and 'beer' in a thread title should really result in at least a suspension if no free beer is on offer.

I saw the title and was like 'YAY!!! FREE BEEEEEEEEEEERRR!!!'

But alas no.

Anyway, alcohol free beer sucks. All of it does.

I must admit this is why I opened this thread :(

I don't drink massively though so I might try one some time.

Fail... that stuff is like Ribena without Blackcurrant IMO.

Saying that, I am toying with the idea of giving up the booze, I'm getting bored of making a tit of myself and waking up the next day feeling like I've drunk a cup full or fairy liquid and smashed my head against a wall 55 times. :o

I've been doing a lot of swimming and been using the gym the past few weeks instead of going to the pub. I feel a lot better for it :)
