The "Oh is the Carling Cup on? I barely noticed/cared" thread *SPOILERS*

Nor has Rooney or Berbatov though. It's been somewhat of a drought bar the Stoke game, but they are so poor how that game we only scored 5 I don't know.

Let us not forget, he was scoring before he was originally dropped. Players can't be expected to score when you give them just 5 or 10 minutes.

Was he? He scored against Liverpool, that's the only important goal I can remember this season. Even in pre season when he was phenomenal, he still wasn't scoring.

are you watching the same games i am ?

so far i have seen every man utd game and tbh berba has disrupted the flow more than anything, yes he can link up, yes he can find a pass and yes he can finish on occasion but all of that added up does not equal what he has taken away from the team.

i will not post what that is, howeer im sure if you cannot see it others on here will and hopefully point it out to you.

lets face it rooney and tevez won us the PL and the CL berba has done nothing.

Im no the only one who said it - but for instance, whats the excuse for the AV game , or the one before that.....

yet somehow at least when Berba plays we have always managed to at least score

How many times last year where Utd begging for "another" style of play because Tevez and Rooney combi just didnt work against some teams

he was our best player pre season and also probably our best player till we signed berba, wonder where the link is to how and why he suddenly isnt performing, oh yes its cos he doesnt play anymore.

So what about the three consecutive starts he made recently, he didnt prove anywhere in those games he was getting over his slump

Today we saw him doing what he needed to do, proving his point.
Hopefully SAF will notice and start with him Saturday.

So A N Other player loses out for assisting in the win over Man City (in a much tougher game)?

Anyway I am very glad whether Tevez got 3 or 4 last night and his shooting boots have definitely returned

Maybe its time (and a convenient game against Sunderland at home coming up) to do a strange formation like the following:

Rafael Rio Vidic Evra

-Carrick -
- Rooney
Ronny - Park
Tevez
Berba

(coudnt be **** to get the spacing right - but hopefully you get the idea)

everybody has off games rooney for example has been poor for the last 5 before the Man City game, tevez is a great player, his work rate and his harrassing of defenders, willingness to track back etc were essential last year inus winning the PL and CL, his workrate and willingness to cover let the likes of ronaldo have a more attacking role along with Nani now they are hamstrung to defensive duties because berba doesnt work as well doesnt track back.

this is why we have curatailed our wing play and started playing park more because simply of the workrate park does to allow for berbas laziness.

Tevez and rooney would never get us 30 goals a season each, however the workrate they had together allowed others to get forward and chip in.

when playingberba we have curtailed that massively meaning that we are reliant on him creating / scoring in every game imho we just are not anywhere near as cohesive an attacking unit as we were last year.

Our wing play isnt as good as last season because Ronaldo isnt on the same form, and to a lesser extent Nani has been more hit and miss

I know Rooney has off games, but he was also playing better in combination with Berba than Tevez, and the AV game and a few others showed how little infront of goal Tevez HAD been giving until last night

At least now there is a selection dilemma for the main games - before it was out of necessity (when Berba had to sit out two games because of his first hamstring injury)

Last night showed the Tevez from last season, rather than the Tevez of the last few months

Maybe the Sunderland game gives SAF a chance to try the Spurs formation (when Ronny and Evra have to sit out due to suspension) with Rooney on one wing and Carrick and Fletcher/Anderson in the centre and Tevez +Berba upfront (and OShea at left back :()

Yup, found it...

Watford, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers will all be hoping to join the duo in the draw which takes place on Saturday in Sky Sports Soccer Saturday from 12pm

Tevez and Rooney is the best strike partnership in the premiership.
Sure there might of been times when we needed to change it up a bit, but Berbaflop isnt the answer.
Someone with some pace, desire, strength and stamina was.
So in effect, a player nothing like Berbatoss at all.

Good to see crazy Tevez putting a few away, it wont make any difference though , Berbanotverygood and A.N Other will start at the weekend regardless.

yes. neither Rooney or berba are that in form, we have to rotate players to some extent and they cant all 3 play (can hey?).
so for me, tevez should get his chance in the league.
if not (after his performance last night) what message does it send to him, or to others looking to break through?
besides, were talking about a player with a 30m valuation, not some school boy whose just appeared.
but i will not be suprised if/when he starts on the bench again;)

You keep mentioning ONE bad game where he started. Yet you blissfully ignore the numerous bad games from so many other people. Absolutely incredible...

Ah yes, that phenomenal performance where both front-men were terrible and we scored from 2 yards out with a tap-in. Berbatov was dragged off too in case you had forgotten.

He started THREE games consecutively - not just one, and scored from the penalty spot for his only goal in that run (which isnt exactly that hard for a £30m striker - or shouldnt be anyway)

Tevez had several 2 yard shots or whatever in the mini run above, but put none away (in general play).....

Berba was in his first game back from a hamstring injury.....in case you had forgotten

Anyway I wouldnt be surprised if Rooney is pushed out to the wing again to accomodate Tevez as a starter tomorrow
