Grand Theft Auto 4

2GB of ram will be a killer. I'd say that no, it won't be playable on anything other than minimum.

I can run on medium with spec in sig, but I have to run at 1680x1050 rather than my native 1920x1200 (which it just plain refuses to run).

Cheers. Looks like I'm as well waiting till I upgrade my computer before installing this then.
:(

My copy has arrived. :)

Cant wait to try it and if performance aint the best then tweak the files that it installed to get it performing good lol.

Did you even READ what I put?

I basically said that it was an outrage and that it shouldn't have even happened. Not that I'm prepared to wait!

Chill...

I agree with you that it shouldn't have even been released and it's as though we are the testing team...

2 gigs of RAM is plenty on my XP machine, but I expect his processor will hold back performance a lot.

Is there any way of increasing mouse sensitivity for the menus? I have to pick the mouse up several times just to move from one side of the screen to the other. Adjusting mouse sensitivity only affects the gameplay. Not a major issue but still annoying.

Yeah that's really annoying. Sort of had the same problem in Far Cry 2 as well.

Am I missing the point, but the game's recommended spec says a quadcore. All the people who have posted up with quadcores are getting "fine" FPS those without quadcores are not. So why all the complaining that you can't play the game, if you are running a spec that is below recommended

Also comparing it to a console is wrong, as people are trying to play at resolutions that are over double the amount of pixels that a console had to render.

Regardless of performance, the game seems crap anyway, nothing like the previous GTAs. I know it wasn't realistic in previous GTAs that you could punch anyone a few times and they'd end up dead, but it was more fun than the tedious fighting system GTA IV has.

Just been speaking with a colleague and it turns out STEAM are refunding people who are having problems, if an error code can be given then you're given a refund. Lols.

That is really poor in my oppinion. There is no reason why you should be forced to sign up for two different things online to play the game in single player.

Taken from the manual :-

During the Grand Theft Auto IV install, you will also be prompted to register with Games for Windows - LIVE and Rockstar Games Social Club. Please note the registraion into either is not mandotary to play the single player campaign.

Only thing you have to do (as far as i can see), is make an offline LIVE profile to be able to save the single player, which is what ill do when i get me 360 pad as ive forgot me LIVE account now (made one when i had a 360 donks ago, but sold it donks ago as well, so never needed the account after that :D), as i can play the single player fine without both of those, i just can't save it. :p

Hmm during the intro when hes on the boat i get a bsod and this file seems to be the cause. ati3duag.dll

Not sure what to do about it.

If you have the latest ATI drivers, then I don't think that there isn't much you can do. If you do then it's probably worth shooting R* an email describing the issue.

This sounds like a really well tested game ;)

Using latest omega drivers, so i guess i could try the 8.11s but ill wait till i really have to cos i dont want crap fps like with official ati drivers.

Hmm, when you play the game it tells you that you can't save unless you sign in!

Meh got a RECS20 or somit error which i think is out of video memory error but according to gta 4 gfx screen it was 340meg out of 488meg.
