Authentic watch vs Replica

It's a luxury and subjective...

Some people want to spend money on nice watches that loose very little and tell the time often less effectively than said fakes but some people want to spend £2000 on bits for their computer each year that are worth nothing the following year.

Go figure...

spot on! I have just bought a brand new computer worth over £1500, why? because I use my computer for Entertainment (TV, Games, Browsing the Net ect..., Coursework (MSc Computer Networks) and Work (Web Design ect ...), I can easily justify the cost as i use it for many functions and use it at least 5 hours per day.

I bought a replia watch, simply because I liked the style of the Tag Heuer - Formula 1 but could not justify spending £720 on something that only has 1 function, which I already have on my phone, laptop, computers, clock ect... so I decided to buy a replia, just wasnt practical to buy the 'genuine' just to be one of the 'cool' kids and not a 'pykey' as people in here say. ;) lol

Often less effectively?

Where did that little erroneous tidbit come from?

he takes the mick out of people for wearing fakes, just because he has bought a real one and he's trying to say its them trying to show off and not him, its like the pot calling the kettle black

"oh your a show off with your fake watch, look its fake, but looky here i have a real one, makes me feel real good like wearing an armani suit"

I just spent a lot of money on a hoodie from christian audigier, you dont see me going up to people who wear fake designer clothes telling them that its fake and then rubbing it in their faces

What if you are wearing a real watch AND an armani suit, do you get to brag then? :D

Id love a TAG watch, think they look great. problem i have is that a watch lasts about 1 day on my arm then it falls off and i loose it and they do cost too much for me to justify buying it. £800 for a watch to me is too much, but id love one, have to be with a velcro strap to stop it falling off though.

Id like a fake TAG, but i have no idea where to get one or even if anyone does them, im sure they do, but its not liek you can walk into a shop and ask is it, is it???

I guess like others have said, you buy it for the build, quality and becaause YOU want it.

When i get a pay rise, i may just get one :)

Many people couldn't tell a good fake from accross a table if you were wearing it so you could get away with it, however if you like watches where is the fulfilment in owning a fake? You get a real one because of the history and prestige of the brand, care and attention put into it's manufacture and knowing that it's what you desire. If you really want something you aren't going to settle for something that is inferior?

Owning a fake is also like bedding a fatty, your friends may not know about it but that doesn't matter, you're not going to be happy or fulfiled because you know that you really wanted to bed a real petite blonde.

Its all about image, if people think the fake watch is a genuine then you have saved yourself x amount of money and got exactly the same result you would have had with a genuine, and if people think its a fake, well it is! so no loss lol you can only gain!

Its like saying why bother buying a Ferrari when a Fiat Panda would still get you from A-B or why bother buying a nice house in a nice area when living under a bridge would still get you a roof over your head.

just because something looks the same on the outside or performs a similar task doesnt mean it is the same.

Obviously your paying for the name, but thats the point. The name includes the craftsmanship, the quality of material and the fact that it will more than likely keep, if not rise in value and last for generations.

You pay for quality end of.

From having several expensive watches...

My Crosswind (my day to day watch) is loosing 5 minutes a week AND has just been serviced by Breitling so its going back at the weekend. My old Sea Dweller is never that good, though to be fair I don't wear that so often and thinks nothing of dropping a minute a week when I do wear it and my wifes Rolex is currently stopping on and off for no aparent reason.

Look at it this way if a stamp collector wanted a penny black stamp he wouldn't want to own a photocopy of one would he? It's possible that nobody else will ever look at his collection but he still wouldn't be happy with the fake. Yes, he'd save a bucketload of money but it isn't about the image or money.

Yes there are a lot of people who will buy a watch to show off or enhance their image I can't deny it. There are also collectors, enthusiasts or people like myself who have a sentimental reason to own one, every member of my family since my great grandad has had an omega, me and my brothers got one on our 21st birthday and I'll get my son or daughter one when the time comes.

Another thing

They say that a saphire crystal cant be scratched unless you have a diamond? Is this true? Am positive I can scratch mine with a knife and a bit of force
