Anyone scoring a shed load of goals?

Im in April '09, only Ronaldo (16), Berbatov (12) and Tevez (10) have got into double figures. Having loads of chances, just cant score.

Its hurting my goal difference in the league. Joint top with Arsenal. I have a GF of 36 compared thier 48 :( Scored 15 more goals than me.
No. I find it hard to score goals. I'll concede an early goal and perhaps come back to win 2-1 if I am lucky. Anything better than a 2-0 victory is very rare. I just about beat Hull and Arsenal smashed them 6-0. I can win games but Arsenal don't lose them so I need a superior goal difference to stand any chance of winning the league. Unfortunately Arsenal just score goals like they are buy one, get one free. :(

Currently 5 games into my second Barca season. Scored 11 conceded 1 in 5 games. Last season I scored 87 and conceded 24 in 38 games with Bojan scoring 23. Like Lister says though, regularly I come back from behind. I beat Real 3-2 after being 2 down. Always coming back from 1-0 down, etc.

Just finished season 1 with Fulham, well, actually in pre-season for season 2 now. Finished 16th overall which wasnt too bad considering the lack of consistency and injuries. Andy Johnson was top scorer with 8, yes I know, very poor attack wise.

Sold Hughes, Kamara, E.Johnson, Davies, Baird, Murphy and released some youth players and splashed the cash in an attempt to attack mid table. Have completed the signings of:

Carioca - £3.2m
Assenjo - £6m
Torrejon - £3.2m
Andy Hughes - £300,000 (LB for Boro who got relegated)

I am hoping to get Downing for £5m but Milan are interested.

Also, for a big shock, Real splashed out £40m on Bendtner!

You sold Simon Davies?

He was in Team of the Year 3 seasons running with me, he was rating 7.5+ average every season.

5th in the Championship with Hull, had a couple of bad results and so I got sacked :(

I am gutted. I might just start a new game as Chelsea (Chelsea fan) as I need to have some wins to stop me from getting annoyed at this game!

Chelsea seem not to get a good start in the first season. I reckon it would be a little harder than what it seems, would be good though challenging Arsenal for the title :p

My goal difference is +19 i think, might be more now. I got a few 4-0 results, 14 games into 2nd season:

Won 8, Drawn 3, lost 3.

Lost against Man Utd Away, Spurs away, Man City at home. I must note that i dominate EVERY game, i was all over Man utd, but a few early flukey shots, never have less that 55% possession. Just don't have world class finishers.

Beat Arsenal away in cup, Chelsea away in league, then had Liverpool away. I agree with people here, against big teams, you ALWAYS concede early goals, or sometimes, you score first, thent hey score 3...but then i score 4. Which was Liverpool in League cup Quarters, 4-3 away, now have Chelsea in Semi's :)

Currently 5th i think, with others on 29,30,31,32 on points, me 27 :)

Real Madrid tbfh though^^ :D

I'm still settling my youngsters in. Wijnaldum's stats are amazing now after 1 season, Saivet still not moving in stats. I've put wilshere in U18's, his stats aren't good atm. Asenjo is now awesome. I still leak too many goals though, usually only in one half, i either come back and win or they put new strikers on and cane me (Chelsea bring on Trezeguet, he scores two goals in two shots).

Board made me sell Marcelo for £29mil, but found Joe Mattock for £2.5m, he's scoring and got young player of month at left-back :D. Dunno why, but my funds are dropping fast, i've lost £9m on nothing and my wages are £100k in budget. Luckily i haven't spent Marcelo money, but it's draining my transfer funds too...on nothing!

Barry is awful now though, he gets under 6 each game, passing awful, but 1st season was awesome, his stats are gerard-like, midfield general. Will sell him, but doubt i got people interested now.

Team:

GK Asenjo
DL Mattock
DC Davis
DC Barzagli
DR Santon
MCd Camacho
MCa Barry
AML Young
AMR Sanchez
FC Cardoza
FC Adriano

Adriano is a bit pants, but holds up ball very well. I've found though that playing a big target man to drop off and hold up ball to lay off to strikers, a la Crouch, means they play awful and don't score, even though instructions are pretty much identical.

Ahh. Well i guess you got a point. You gotta base tactics on the type of team.

For a start, i would say Man Utd aren't pacey in the same aspect as arsenal and don't really play short passing. You got amazing passing ability, i.e. Scholes, Carrick who can pick out anyone, so i would play direct, slow and wide, but pretty much mixed. I play with Villa mid-slow, mid-wide, short passing mainly for these reasons:

My team suck at passing, cannot do it fast. And long balls don't reach targets often as they don't pick out right passes. I play it a bit wide as short and slow with narrow witdh would just mean i would be passing it between MC's.

In real-life, Arsenal play Fast, Short, Narrow. They can play narrow because they play fast tempo and therefore can outwit defences.

As above, I have been sacked as Hull, but don't want to be Chelsea as I'll probably just win everything and get bored.

I want to either be a bottom Prem team or a Championship team.

Actually, come to think of it. I might just be Hull again and try again learning from my mistakes :)

Sod it, I'm doing it :)

I went for villa first game, kept chopping up tactics, didn't know game, balls it up. Got to halfway point 1st season, restarted. Started with a tactic i liked and stuck with it, invested in youth. Now in 2nd season and going for Champions league spot, though only 14 games in.

Though, i started a game in lowest league last night,Blue Square South as Worcester (where i live :)),but you need a lot of spare time to do it and the players are poorest of the poor, like most stats around 3-5. So realistic though, they play like sunday league, real slow. But you wouldn't get promoted each season, so to get to championship or prem could take you 7-10 seasons, and thats good going (5 promotions to get to prem!). And by that time, all the best players are dead lol, so it's all regens.

Oh, try Standard in Belgian league, Witsel, Defour and there's a DC/DM (ferriani or something) who are pretty much wonderkids :)

Don't bother with bottom prem league, you'll just be bottom forever. Be a championship side like Wolves with an ok squad and bit of money, you get promoted, fans love you and you get cash windfall. Avoid relegation and you're still hero :)

Im 26 games in with Villa Carew been beast for me 30 apps 15 goals 15 assists but i play long balls to him and get him to hold up the ball. Even Harewood not done to bad 10 goals in 19 games but he a bench player now. Board gave me £12.5 mill to spend so few games ago i blew it on Huntelaar but fans are already on his back as hasnt had best of starts. :(

Other buys are

Thiago Silva rock at CB but has made odd mistake for me but Arsenal bought him in Man Utd game and done well so reason i bought him.

Vukcevic nice litte player on left wing fans really like him good at free kicks but not as consitent as would like but scored some cracking 25 yarders.

Currently 8th in table 36 points level with Newcastle but just above on goal difference Pompey in 7th are 7 points ahead so looks like going to miss out on Uefa Cup. :(

Nice work. I couldn't get Carew firing at all. Had him holding up ball, but he wouldn't shoot, head the ball, would just lay it off to midfield. I think hold up ball messes me up as i play attacking, so don't need to hold up to wait for support. Counter attacking game though, it would work. Agbonlahor is wicked though. His pace alone means he just rips people apart, but his finishing is bad, but such is the pace that msot goals he runs past keeper :)

Yeah he good but he had big injury and out for 5 months on mine but he just come back. I have my defensive line pushed to 16/17 but my CB mentality is 2/3 seems to work well Man Utd want Cuellar so must be doing well unfortunately now he unhappy though because i didnt agree.

But i play a very direct game about 17/18 on slider and seemed to work well when was using Agbon and Carew to knock headers on i put Agbon with Forward runs lots.

Chelsea in for Young Liverpool in for Reo Coker ad Sevilla in for Barry got job of keeping players now. :( But i set £30 mill for Young and £40 mill for Barry and £25 for Coker so that should keep them out im not budging. :D

Be careful with that. Personally i see two things potentially awkward with those settings:

1. Direct and pushing up lots means you are bypassing your midfield with long balls, can also be caught on break easy, i push up about 13.

2. The villa players suck at passing, you will lose possession a lot because they'll lob ball forward and lose it.

If its that direct, i would, again personally, do a 5-3-2, because the backline is pushing up so much, that the wingbacks are acting as wingers, but can cover back. Midfield is there to break up play and retrieve ball, or maybe 4-3-3, with the 2 wide forwards with backwards arrows. Direct balls bypass your midfield AND theirs though, so good versus superior midfields.

Most important thing i've noticed about villa is this: Play slow tempo and short passing, they will keep/dominate possession against anyone. I got:

Tempo = 5
Width = 13 or 14
Passing most players 2 upto 7ish.

But again, completely depends on pitch and i'd imagine your settings would be great at home and against teams with big midfields.

I see lost 2-1 to Man Utd, Chelsea etc so far its not bad tatic just im getting to many draws with it. :( Losing a lot lately though but not sure down to player unhappy at fact of not being able to move or tatics.

Im leaking a lot of goals now toward end of season things not working out to good just lost 1-0 to Wolves and out Fa Cup in 5th round. :(

Huntelaar having problems adapting think its time for change around of tatic but as you say it works very well at home.
