Why are mine only lasting a few hours whilst everyone else says theirs last weeks?

I charge it up, play a few hours then the next day the thing is flat.

Also, when the lights start to spin is that supposed to mean it's at half charge?

You may have a dodgy charger. Mine says its charged after only 1 hour of charge. Plug it in your PC to charge for a good 6 hours. See how long it lasts then.

Spose I need a play and charge thing for that?

When the controller is off (with a battery pack in) 3 of the lights are still sort of faintly lit, is supposed to happen?

My black battery is bust as well. Plug it in, 10 minutes later it says it's charged. Had to switch to my older, whiter battery.

Mine are the same. I've had my 3x packs since around mid 2006 and lately they only last a few hours at most. I charge them on the Quick Charge Kit dock. I've tried cleaning the contacts on the battery and dock with IPA but no luck. I just put it down to the packs losing their charge as they are limited.

My battery packs only tend to last a few days these days but I put it down to intensive usage. Are they meant to last over a week?

Yours are dead. Mine did this, (faint lights) just before it died. It lasted 2.5 years, so I just assume they lost their charge tbh.

The next stage after this is that they only work when plugged in with the recharge cable.

Thing is, I can't remember them ever lasting more than a few hours. I might be wrong though as my memory is trash, guess I'll another to buy another or 2.

Mine where great in the beginning they used to last a week. Now both of mine last a day if I'm lucky. Especially when voice chatting in game. Now I have one controller in use and the other charging the spare battery up.

I really need some new ones.

My original one was binned a month or so ago. Dropping battery life, longer charge times and a worrying amount of heat when on charge led me to conclude that the cells were stuffed :p

I've just gained a 3rd wireless controller an I think I'll try a 4000mAh un-official battery for a few quid from the states.

The faint lights don't mean anything, I've had it happen with brand new Duracell Ultras, 2100 mAh rechargeables and the official battery pack in all 3 of my pads at some point.

have to say i noticed the lights when i turned mine off but we always took the battery pack out then put it back in it used to stop that bit, seem to last a while.
I have my original controller and charger set from release still going strong must be lucky (console went to 3 light heaven though)

I bought the duel charge kit and and extra battery. Very first charge and it fried the 2 batteries leaving black marks on them.. I lol'd

My quick charge kit was pretty poor too. Was fine whilst it was charging but when it was sat idle it used to make a whistling sound making me have to pull the power lead out. Got rid of that pretty quickly, glad I didn't pay much for it.

I bought the offical dual charge kit when I bought my first 360 in decemeber '06, as well as a play and charge kit (never used the cable for it as I used the dual charger instead). However 5 months later my first 360 broke and I got a full refund instead of a replacement as I was waiting for the elite then.

I bought my second 360 (elite) in july this year I think and been using the old white battery packs and they still last a very long time! Atleast 5 days of playing, but obviously depending how many hours a day I play.

I've had one of my controllers for just under a year and the battery pack lasts all of five minutes as well. It's more than poor considering I have a phone that's been going for nearly a decade and the battery in that lasdts longer!
