Grand Theft Auto 4

Just finished the 'Old Hospital' mission to get the drugs back. It took me about 5 times on the 360 and I just did it first time. The game is much easier than on console for me.
 
I do like the fact that the moment you drop the 360 pad (after driving etc) and use the KB/Mouse for shooting it instantly adapts and changes controller input - reminds me of Tomb Raider Underworld that did the same. Good for accurate shooting in this.

Its a great system, other games like Halo 2 Vista, Gears of War and Fallout 3 did the same thing, it even makes sure vibration disables when you use the keyboard (something Lost Planet doesnt, and i absolutely **** myself when i loaded it up not realising i had my Wireless controller on on the shelf and the vibration kick in :p). I wish more devs who allow for both did the same (the button icons are essential imo).

Guys, is it worth me getting? I am a bit undecided about it from all the various comments made in this thread :p

I really liked it on the PS3 but I just couldn't play it, as I am such a noob at playing games with a controller :D
 
Can't recall the guy you do that for on the PS3, just remember you had carefully take photos of the albanians with your mobile and text them to the guy you're doing the mission for to find out which of them to pop.. :)
 
is this game any good, because all i hear are bad thing about it from the xbox gamers.

Im tempting to get it after looking at the high res shots thread. :P
but also not sure about it running on my laptop :o

I like the fact when shooting from the (stationary) car you can use the mouse to free aim, made the mission where you go to the subway station and shoot up the drug dealers for Manny a whole lot easier. Shooting while driving is still a bit tricky, doesn't seem to auto-aim in the way that San Andreas did.
 
im enjoying this a lot, but cant play for than 45 mins before my eyes start to hurt, due to the lack of any sort of AA/AF (hd4850), so that kinda puts a downer on it for me, but still enjoy it.

benchmark shows a lot more fps for me than i actually get in game :o
 
Does anyone know if the progress in game is tied to your live account like the console versions?

I find this whole live/xbox gamertag stuff quite annoying, i am going to start from scratch tonight - redo my hotmail email address and my gamertag etc. Just wondering if I will lose my progress?

You guys know where the Sultan RS is? Best car ever!! :D I wonder if the glitches on the 360 game are on the PC as well, like flying under the map etc?

Best car is clearly the FUTO. Simple, small, agile, RWD (i.e can be fun, but you have to work it), and quick enough to get away from any chase/catch up to any AI driver.

It's the car I primarily search for.
