Grand Theft Auto 4

Cheers guys.

Missus is out shopping on way home from work, gonna give her a bell and get her to pick up a copy of this while she is out. :)

No fixes have been (yet^) released by R*. Nvidia have released a driver that addresses some issues (performance being one of them, but not a great deal of improvement).

The servers seem to have calmed down, and no-one appears to be getting the inability to log into Social Club anymore, meaning that those related errors have now gone.

The outstanding issues (IMO) are shoddy graphics resource usage (very unoptimised), shadows, antialiasing, and random crashes that as of yet have given no error messages or warnings (has happened to me 3 or 4 times now).

ATi should be releasing their Catalyst 8.12's on the 10th, which has some issues addressed (mainly X1950 texture problems).

^Hopefully the patch submitted to Microsoft for GFWL validation will address at least half of the problems.

Other than that, no-one knows.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks for typing that all out for me :)

Summary: first impressions were bad since we couldn't max out the settings due to the whole graphic memory issues, and their are a few graphical bugs/glitchs, flickering shadows (seen on ATI cards mainly), but now that 'most' of us have put this to one side and played the game it turns out to be a very well made story, and it has some nice physics too... though the damage taken eg: getting thrown out the window screen of your car and smashing head first into a brick wall only takes about half your life bar away... little unrealistic but its nice to be able to survive this :D

Aye, was aware of this, just wasn't sure what fixes were available yet, but now know that none are really :)

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I find that SLI has no real performance increases with this game.

Not scaling at all. Single card >>> SLI only a couple of frames increase.

How do I play my saved game from Vista in Windows 7 or even another oS like XP? Dont appear to see the saves  Where are they?

anyone?

in grand theft auto sanandreas it was automatic
anyway i sent a email to Rockstar Games Support and i put:
"Hi

I just bought the Grand Theft Auto IV PC game thinking the controls will be the same as grand theft auto San Andreas but it isn't. Theres no option for mouse steering control. Because I'm disabled the way I can play games is by using the mouse. I'm very angry and disappointed that you've removed this feature in this game. Now I have a game that cost me £25 and I can't play it and I can't take it back to the shop because it's been opened so they won't accept it back..

Can you do something about this or even make a patch to add this feature?"

i dont get it got in multiplayer 1 time now i try to join games it eather trows me back to browser menu or game stops responding wtf like anyone know how to fix it or something ?

single player plays perfectly

Cheers for telling us 3 times. Given that no-one else seems to have had the same problem occur, its pretty unlikely we know how to solve it!

I just saw the PS3 version & the difference in graphics is just unbelievable....console version is really blurry & low res textures. You cant compare the game.

24" res, max render, medium texture, car density to max, view distance to 50 & the game runs mint. I know the game has its issues but as other people have said with Crysis, its weird how after a PC upgrade (GPU etc) that same game plays fine.

Hassle free? You mean looking rubbish, **** controls and a worse framerate than on pc ( decent pc's now get better fps than the 2consoles with the new nvidia drivers).

Why on earth have you bought it for pc ( or did you? But you say you've wasted 27quid ?) if you're still stuck on that 1.8ghz single core amd heap, the box said you need a dual core...
