Spec me a gift for a female gamer/WOW fanatic.

Aren't you lot a charming bunch :p
Get her something from zestuff.com or splitreason.com I know I'm always happy with something off one of them :)

What did you expect, this is OcUK :D

Are those sites safe for work? What do they sell?

OP: What is the budget - go for something unconventional :p

Yeah they're fine. They sell geeky t-shirts, plushies, mugs, Donkey Kong/Mario energy drinks, random geeky stuff really :) Tend to be linked to webcomics such as Ctrl Alt Del and VGCats but not all the merchandise is so pretty varied selection.

Ah ok. If it's his girlfriend he should take her skydiving or go karting or something to get her away from the computer for a while IMO. I remember my ex got way too involved with online gaming and she got less and less sociable in the real world even after she stopped playing :(

Not all gamers are anti social losers that spend their every waking second of their lives gaming ;) From what I've seen of people that become less and less sociable while gaming, it's usually due to an entirely different underlying reason that they're trying to escape from.

Aye I understand that - gaming can be very social if it's done correctly (I used to play online with workmates a lot in the past). I'm just saying, if she's a "fanatic", then maybe it'd be healthy to go and do something in the open :)

I've been away from gaming for about a year or so now, if anything I've gone the complete opposite way - too much time out and about spending wayyyy too much dough! Back to playing the odd game and taking music studies more seriously when I get home I think to save some cash :)

Anyway I really should do some work :p

true

though it isn't hard to see that games which require hours of your spare time are likely to appeal to a certain introverted/shy type of person

there is a bit of a difference between playing mario kart with your mates and staying up all night battling with your wizard or whatever online

just as there is a bit of a difference between playing a game of monopoly with your family vs playing dungeons & dragons/warhammer etc...

Speaking from experience, if a game cant be paused, or the game puts pressure on you to stay online (be it from peers, or the games mechanics), then unfortunately.. it can indeed have a negative impact on how you spend your time.

Bingo! Some of you guys need to grow up.

A lot of the jokes were a bit too OTT for my tastes. She HAS a social life. She's no more addicted to WOW than I am (a couple of hours a night now that she's lvl80) Most of our IRL friends are in the same guild, and live within spitting distance. We're not a bunch of anti-social rejects.

And no. She's not my GF.

I have an original wow collectors edition for sale, unopened (in wrapping) if she doesnt have it and likes collecting pets.

I need to get in before the lock..

Buy a mould-your-willy-in-chocolate kit and send the results to her? :) Put a little wizard's hat on top as well.
