Grand Theft Auto 4

guys, does the Steam version off anything better (less drm crap?) than a shop bought copy?

Nope, you still have to register with GFWL and the R* social club, and AFAIK it still uses Securom - although I don't know for sure on the latter because it doesn't seem to have a problem with me running Daemon Tools, which I thought it might.

Mine just popped through the door - dno if its even worth installing on my rig :(. Not even opened up the box - just left it in the jiffy bag in the corner of the room in disgust...

Last time I felt like that Far Cry had come out...

Hey guys..

Been playing for about an hour or two, loving the game now. :D

I want to back up my saved games though....anyone know where they are stored?

Thanks!

Anyone messed around with the video editor?

It's actually quite a lot of fun. Every time something bizzare or amazing happens I hit F2 and forget about it, video editor never forgets! First attempt:

What I want to know is how does having recording enabled affect frame rate? I've heard a few people for pretty unreliable sources say you can get a 5/10 FPS boost. Would try myself but wont be able to play 'till later.

So for all those now who have paid for the game... when considering the excessive DRM, sign ins, poor performance and shoddy gold release, do you wish you 'obtained' a copy of the game or do you think it was money well spent?

finally got to see this working on mates PC, all i can say is its the worst PC game ive seen in beards!! .. jaggies, uber slow & uber ugly even on max settings...
i dont think any amount of 'patching' could save this game .. well dissapointed

Doesn't GTA IV use that Natural motion Tech? Eurphoria.

I love the software, had a play around with is a few months ago :)

Yeah sure you did, rofl. You're always moaning about PC gaming and how your PC is so old and won't run stuff as good as the 360 (WAAAAAH), so why would you buy it? I don't believe you one bit.

I'm guessing this is another one of Cheets posts that contains PC bashing with no truth to his statement or reasoning.

Idiot.

haha you really do hate me don't you. You need to chill out and get real.

Hey mr Xbox360 fanboi, should have gone to specsavers your eye site is failing you!

It appears you are lost, here, I'll give you a helping hand!

Money well spent tbh, sign ins are automatic and not even worth a mention once the initial install is over and done with. Performance issues are being blown out of proportion imho as well.

is this euphoria physics not the reason why they said force unleashed would not work on the PC maybe this is crippling the engine

maybe if they patched it to use physx it would help don't see it but

I have turned it off but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It might depend on your machine, perhaps hard drive speed is a factor or something, dunno but it won't hurt to try.

I think it is money well spent - they have put an incredible amount of work into the game, there is a massive amount of dialogue compared to any previous GTA game for example.

Does anyone else find the mouse controls a bit annoying compared to previous versions of GTA? If you try to move diagonally, eg. press W and D at the same time, and move your mouse to change the view, the view keeps automatically centring behind Nico. I can't describe it perfectly but anyone who's played previous GTAs should hopefully know what I mean. It's like you have to fight with the camera to view where you want. It is as if the pad joystick controls were mapped to the mouse, rather than providing proper, native mouse control.

I can't find anything in the game options to alter the camera behaviour to stop the auto centring.

edit - this seems most noticeable when you are tapping the space bar to sprint quicker.

I couldn't really see it making a big difference, apart from the odd stutter (which I hardly get). I guess I'll give it a try.

Cheers :D

I was thinking this too, it's not gonna happen now but Physx would be perfect for this game, no?

You get to chose music from a huge list, some of the tunes I've never heard on the radio stations, but they probably are there.

I remember playing with that software and thinking "this would be brilliant in a video game, it'll never happen". Love it :)

I did it on purpose, honest!

I think I know what you're getting at. Sometimes if I'm running past an alley or something I want to keep running forward and check out my side profile to see what's down there. It doesn't like it.

I'm also not keen on the aiming controls. It just doesn't seem that responsive, mainly when I'm using cover with Q and take a few shots. Not a big deal though.

No it's not mature the comment I posted and was not meant to be, but so you're not. You've posted crap in here before. It's not even worth you posting because all you do is try to slate GTA IV on the PC when it is clearly better than that on the console...

I did you a favor pointing you back to the console section that is where you should be not in here...

And then asking what sort of rig this will need to be played max to slate the answer... I mean come on....
