Dexter Morgan - Hero or Villain?

They are morally in the same group, however legally not which considering you've been arguing semantics means i've no clue where that falls in with the definition, as I'm sure it has a legal element to it. But yes i consider state executions to be evil.

Well then we're just two opposing opinions that are unlikely to meet middle ground :p

----

Back to the discussion about Dexter, I can't stand his sister. She's the only character that really annoys me. Every scene she looks like she's about to cry or throw another tantrum. I love the rest of the characters, Rita is a bit needy but she's good eye candy so thumbs up there.

I don't think I'd ever have the balls to kill another person, no matter how sick and evil they are. I'd like to think I did though.

Anti-hero and I love it!
I do however kind of want him to be caught strangely enough, I would love to see his sister's reaction!

I *think* in the books she does find out he is a killer, but that is from only what I have heard - I have not read them personally so can't confirm this,

I love the show aswell its great stuff.

Imo he is OK doing that but stupid spoiler entered by somebody not using their brain
I wouldnt trust this to work well in real life because it is unlikely anyone would have access to the criminal records and resources that Dexter has, and a lot of it would be guess work.

Oh for gods sake.
Nicely done.
Season 3 hasn't been shown yet in the UK so thank you very much for the spoiler.

It's a need for him, like you need food.

I don't think murder is evil, it's a question of perspective.

What is war? State sanctioned murder.

What are executions? State sanctioned murder.

If you wanted to get really silly, you could argue killing animals for food is murder.

Where do you draw the line?

THe difference is people kill for food, for a reason, he is killing because he enjoys killing. He was simply taught to choose to kill bad people rather than good people as a comprimise nothing more nothing less.

If there were no bad people in the world he would end up killing good people, he's an evil murderer frankly. If he didn't like to kill but had been pushed to the limit by people getting off due to a technicality but it was 100% known that person was guilty and you know, after one of these people got off and killed a kid you'd be tempted to take the law into your own hands, in those circumstances and for those reasons he could be "maybe" be described as a slight hero. However that isn't his reasoning, and thats all important. He kills, because he wants to kill, that he's chosen to chanel his murderous fun into killing bad guys is simply due to his father teaching him to do so. WIthout that he'd be out killing anyone he wanted.

only 1 more episode left

Sunday 14th December @ 3:30AM (roughly) Name = 3X12 - Do you take Dexter Morgan?

Oh, you would do it would you? I watched that video of the Ukrainian teens that went on a murder spree last year (killing 21 people) and recorded themselves beating a homeless guy to death. I say watched the video... I watched about 15 seconds until the hammer came out and I died a little inside and turned it off. I felt completely empty inside after the 15 seconds I'd just witnessed. And it affected me for days. I say go watch that video and then compare it to your Dexter or proclaim you could go out and batter someone to death. The reality is a lot less enjoyable than a good TV show.

I think a lot of people who proclaim "I'd do XYZ to his ABCs and cut off his 123s are full of the proverbial excrement and should keep their mouths shut instead of making themselves look like further fools". And OCuK is as full of them as any other forum I've been on.

ive watched lots of videos of people being killed, ive watched an autopsy from 1m away, it does nothing to me, mentally. I used to feel a bit sick from the blood, but thats passed now, the smell is not nice though, but thats not important if your going to kill a living person.

Dexter wouldnt beat up a homeless person, he would (had he killed someone) chop him up into pieces etc etc thats a bad example

And yes i could go out and beat a homeless person to death, but why would i want to?

Not everyone gets all sad like a little girl watching a video, Doesnt matter if its real or not.

I dont understand why you felt empty and it effected you for days?

Dexter is a Hero IMHO :D

The latest episode is amazing :D

Spot on, the last few episodes have been written so incredibly they're the best I've ever watched. The plots and sub plots are connected so fluently and the dialogue and acting is also brilliant. I was consciously impressed at how brilliant it all was whilst I was watching it.

Because there's a difference watching someone bashing someones skull in with a hammer and watching an autopsy. I hunt and fish, so killing and gutting animals is nothing to me. As for going out and beating a homeless person to death, I seriously doubt you could unless there is something wrong with you.

I wondered why you got so uppity about it and then I remembered you're the tool asking for someones name and address like an e-badass from the dangerous dogs thread. You're one of the people I'm specifically talking about.

Edit: And looking into it further, even more of your posts are full of just as much nonsense. Like your posts on page seven of the Gary McKinnon thread.
