Grand Theft Auto 4

I've updated to the latest Nvidia drivers and dropped all settings to low. Game runs fun now. Occasionally after a long play through it starts to 'lag' (I assumed because of the memory leak) and I have to restart. But all in all, I'm now very much enjoying the GTA experience :D

For the hardware buffs:

AM2 5000+, 8800GTS, 2Gb, XP SP3

same here just 8800gt and 3.3gb of ram xp sp3 32bit :D
 
Those camera mods make me feel carsick! Why was the bumper cam one so bumpy? Can the normal chase view not be directly changed to swing back faster?

Some good work though, thanks for sharing, certainly looks easier to see where you're going!
 
Ok i will give my views on this.
I like the game, the story looks so inviting (of what i have seen already). The movements and the physics all look really cool, the sound is also nice, along with the radio stations.
But we have one big problem here! the graphics are crap! worse than the xbox360 version, which imo looked worse than on the ps3.
Horrible crap blurry ****, beneath the blurry i can see nice textures, nice colourful textures!
And the frame rate??????????? 20fps maybe 30 at times or then 9/6/4/!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not impressed one bit, so glad i read up on this game before hand and didn't waste my money on it.
But i do hold onto hope and remember the shoddy port of gta3 and the stutter jerkfest that gave. Few months down the line it was patched and ran fine.

But for now, this game doesn't look good and it doesn't warrant the poor performance we are getting for the quality of graphics.

cheating is a massive aspect of gta. They have been in the game since the original gta. The majority of the cheats aren't to help complete the game, they are for fun as well, e.g. big head mode.

I dont think its possible (yet) to alter the swing back of the camera for normal cameras. And the reason for bumpy cam is it is a incar camera at heart so takes the bumps and stuff from suspension more.

30 FPS is smooth so what more do you want? GTA games have never been about graphics anyway. If you want a game with great graphics and moderate gameplay, play Crysis, if you want a game with moderate graphics and great gameplay, play GTA IV.

The missions are definitely not the main purpose of the game imo either. The game is no way near obsolete once you finish the missions. I spend way more hours in gta just aimlessly doing 'stuff' than I do missions.
 
The racing part of this game is better than the last few need for speed games

The framerate is bearable now that I've installed the latest nvidia driver for this game but after 10mins or so it turns dog slow and I have to restart the game. Any reason why? I lower the settings during gameplay but it reverts back to the default settings the next time I start up the game.
