Does anyone else here live in a flat and their car sits in a residential parking area?

I have been living in my flat for a year now and have started to have to rely on getting the car washed by one of the local Polish wash guys. Now don’t get me wrong the guy is good and does a good job but doesn’t compare to spending a good afternoon at it yourself. I just find it impossible to wash the car now that I live in a flat, for starters there is no hose connection and secondly getting a pale of warm soapy suds to the car is a bit tricky.

One of my neighbours on the other hand has one of those new look corsa vxr things and it is always immaculate, dunno how he does it. How do you guys get on with this situation?

He probably takes it to one of the petrol station scratching machines, which make it look clean but when you look closely completely destroy your paints finish.

Or maybe he has a friend in close proximity with a hose?

I guess a watering can is as close as you can get to a hose...

I take 2 buckets downstairs every week or so to clean the wheels... the full car gets a clean when I go back home every few weeks.

I use baby wipes to clean the wheels of my car, no messing around with buckets etc. Takes about 5 mins and really makes a huge difference to the look of the whole car.

I go the 5 miles home

However if i was to live far away from home or any friend with a decent drive-way i'd firstly make it my priority to find a flat with a garage/decent car space. If this was not viable then i guess either make friends with a decent detailer or find one of those car washes where you can take your own bucket and mitt and use their pressure washer.

Wouldn't ever let anyone else wash my car.

Im quite lucky, I only live 5 minutes from my parents house so the 182 goes round theirs for a wash once a week :)

I dont have any problem thankfully, good old bucket and washmit. Granted I have my own space (its covered too :D) which may technically be cheating. Ive dont really miss having a hose, one panel at a time and the car comes up a treat.

When I used to live in a town house in Edinburgh where the living quarters were on the first floor above the garage I mastered the art of washing the car with just 3 buckets of water, 1 to wet, 1 with soapy water to wash and the last to rinse. Mind you I only did this the once as I got fed up of all the hassle.

What? Carry a bucket of water down the stairs with a sponge. That's what I do!!!

Two buckets: one wash, one rinse.

The Mailbox. That's most often my choice. Though they keep stealing a bit of my front bumper paint :( and I'm not there often enough. I need to find a non-scratchy one in FlEaling
