1 red light on the 360 and the battle begins with "Max"...

bit of a bump and i didnt feel like making a new thread, my xbox has this same error as op e74, its less than 6 months old ive taken the av cable out and put it back in but it still says there is an error, do i just take it back to the place where i purchased it and get a new one?

Try it, if they tell you to send it to MS do that. It's still in it's original warrenty.

hmmm ill try and get a new one from the place i bought it from as its only 6 months old, can they refuse to give me a new, i would like to say they sold me one that was not fit for purpose but i dont think thats the case

Surprised ppl pay for extended warranties.. If its a design fault like it looks like and outside 2 years then just quote the SOGA at them. If they resist further, take legal proceedings. I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of money they will settle before going to court. If its inside 2 years then theres the EU consumer goods guarantee legislation which they should honour.

Microsoft would be easiest, the shop would probably ask you to send it to them anyway.

Just login to the website and request a repair.

Then you just need to find a suitable box and follow the instructions.

I think more people get this error than the 3 red lights. E 74 should have 3 years warranty too. I myself got the same error. My 360 was less than a year old. I told this to the Asian guy on the other end of the phone. (I could hardly understand a word the guy was saying it was irritating.) He asked no question and I did not even have to prove it was still under warrenty.

Same error for me, 6-7 months old aswell.

Yes they will give you a new replacement.

Got mine back from servicing. I had the E74 and they sent it back with a replaced motherboard and CD-ROM (wasn't aware there was anything wrong with it but not complaining!) I think its actually quieter now.

glad to have it back!
