If your rep with Little Jacob is good enough, you can call him up and he will drive close to your location with cut price weapons and armour you can buy.

That also answers a point asked a couple of pages ago - no, you can't kill Jacob he is essentially the Cesar Viliapando of GTA 4.

Snowstorm is next up on my mission list, not looking forward TBH. The first section is fairly easy, just pick off the hoods but it's finding your way out the hospital is the biggest problem. First mission that really taxed me on the PS3 version.

2: kill the 3 strip club managers... is this a slealth mission? becuase with one out in the open as soon as a attack him ill be gunned down! (weapons are not welcome)

If you can perform a stealth kill on the first manager (knife or bat) but if as more likely you can't and spook the other managers, best to run back out the front door as they get in a humvee type vehicle to drive up, which you can blow up with grenades or a decent assault rifle.

And they're right to, it's not their game to support, they only sell you it. You wouldn't go to GAME for support if you bought a game there would you?

If you go to the GTAForums, as listed in a previous reply, you'd see all of the error codes and what they meant. If you also looked at the min. specs, you'd have seen the SP3 requirement. Don't worry, i did the same thing :D Then had to edit my registry to install the damn thing...

I agree with you sort of, but they are selling a game that they KNOW has issues.

I'm on Vista SP1 x64.. I may look at doing a re-install of the O/S as I've found my Steam apps on the C: I abviously wasn't paying attention when I re-installed Steam as I want it on a different spindle..

Still wondering whether a move to 8GB would be worth while.. Equally I wish I'd gone for a higher spec card than the 9800GT..

I got it working last night by setting the app to run in Windows 2000 mode.

I have Q6600 & 10% overclock ,3 gig Dominator ram ( 4 installed) @ 1066Mhz, BFG GTX280 factory overclocked, XP32 with 180.84, worked equally well with 170 drivers except shadows weren't so good
 
yup

have seen it, i don't understand why they don't overclock the q6600 in that review though, would give a scalable indication then!
 
Judging by the performance of some people in here by quads the performance gap is not as big as it should be then with quads Vs duals.
 
I haven't bench'd it yet (will do that tonight) but it runs fantastically well for me (Q6600 / 4GB RAM / Vista x64). Can't say I've had any problems with it. Just killed the first major person (won't spoil it for people here) and enjoying it immensly.

i got this game a couple of days ago.
old news i know but its a shame about the shadows and lack of AA. Tried forcing it from nvidia control panel but doesnt help.
one feature that would be nice is the live reply like in GRID as i always find my self down awesome stuff and wishing i couple capture it. like bailing out a car as it headons a parked van, as i bail out i land in the side of a newspaper stand with a satisfying smash leaving a nice dent and i ragdoll off onto the pavement with broken glass n stuff flying all round.
i love GTA!
 
Does ayone know how to force this game to run in windowed mode? I wouldn't mind dropping my res from 1920 to 1650 but I can't find a way to do this without running in fullscreen as it looks ****.
 
a quick question, progressive throttle? why dont i have with a 360 controller?
and i'd like to kow about windowed mode, i tried -windowed but doesnt help.

Do you mean your trigger doesn't adjust the speed of cars depending on how far down you hold it? If so then I personally haven't had issues that I've noticed with this, and I'm using a 360 pad too. What drivers are you using for your pad, as I'm using the default ones that are downloaded with Vista when you plug the controller in.

Hitting F2 records the last 20-30 seconds of action. You can then view/edit these from the video editor which can be accessed in your mobile phone.

1. Take a motorbike to the location. Kill everyone then before you pick up the stuff go back out and get the bike. drive it into the building and park it next to the room with the stuff, facing down the corridor towards the exit. Grab the stuff, get on the bike and peg it out the building past all the cops. EDIT An option here is to just drive the bike straight into the water once you're out the building. There's a boat there which can make it easier to lose the wanted level if you don't fancy trying to do it on the bike. Oh, and make sure you have full body armour before you get on the bike - you will get shot to ribbons as you drive out but that should give you enough protection to survive.

2. Use the car you arrive in to block the exit at the back of the building (one of the managers will try to escape this way which can cause you to fail the mission). Kill the security on the front door and everyone will come rushing out, then just hang in the hallway with your shotgun and blast everyone as they come running out the only exit.

Yer, it runs OK and that's about it.

In certain places it'll max out at around 71 FPS but in other places and times when it rains, the FPS will drop to around 20 - 28. If the patch does what it says its going to do, then just 10 FPS on top of the lowest should make it more than playable for me.
