If you mean the remake then my suggestion is not to bother, I walked out thinking "hmm, not too bad" but as I think about it more I find myself liking it less and less. Any time where you might have to rely on Keanu Reeves to save the World you might as well give up now, the man has the emotional range of a turnip and I might be unfairly besmirching turnips.

You seem to assume that just because they could fly from planet to planet that they would be superior beings and come from a place where there is no conflict.
You also assume that because they can fly so far, that their weapons would be better than ours. This may not be the case. They may be technically minded enough to be able to fly so far, but maybe not produce weapons that could match ours.
 
There would be a welcoming ceremony where gordon brown would give a speech about hard times and obama would talk about change, some dancers would wobble around a double decker red bus, and some fireworks would illuminate the london eye. The aliens would assume this was some kind of attack and fire up the death ray.
The cockroaches would survive, of course, thus inheriting the earth.

except of course,if they;ve got the power to come this far that fast they already have a doomsday weapon, should be more than enough to power one of the asteroids orbiting earth into us.
