Is it DEP causing the issue? Just disable it for the time being? Worth a try if you think it's that.

I know it's DEP, as DEP tells me so. However, you can't exclude GTA4.exe from DEP, as windows tells you that DEP is required for that executable.

Globally forcing DEP off (bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff) seems to have no effect, as DEP still kills gta4.exe.

I've given up with this for now, I'll comeback to it when & if R* decide to fix it.

My frames are nice, but the sudden slowdowns & the constant crashing for no apparent reason (no error codes) is too much to take.

Anyone knows were gta 4 save files are stored as i will try to reinstall the game. maybe it will get rid of the zlib20 bug

C:\Users\user name?\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

I saw this on a forum...However I would try this directory probably:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

Or something along them lines ...Unless your using Steam.

I would look myself, but I can't

On XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

On Vista:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames

Take the files from inside the user folder, not the user folder itself.

In Vista...

Goto Games folder. Right click the GTA IV icon and left click on Save Games. Voila - the folder with the files and the location

Btw i nick the turismo from the rich folk and try to park it in my zone in front of the flat, but each time i save then exit the exit then reload its gone. Anyone else get that prob?

Well, not actually as in being a jockey, but the one you bet on in the betting shop.

Was boring, aye, but it made you a shed load of money in a very small space of time, especially if you already had the safehouse just around the corner.

Hmm knew there was a bookies (just remembered) but don't think i ever actually went in it before.

me too, alternatively in vista , start>games>gta4 , right click icon , save games.

If you got it from STEAM it won't be in games explorer by default, gotta right click in STEAM and add to GE

oh right, then maybe the saves are in a different place if got from steam.
