If you break spaghetti in half...

I think the reference on Numbers was to when you grab each end of a piece of spaghetti, then bend until it snaps. Clearly it's possible to snap spaghetti in two, especially if you hold it close to the point where you are hoping to cause the break...

Interesting phenomenon, though.

it is possible not to get three pieces... was on TV ages ago and i tried it first time same method only 2 pieces... (the third piece if one is created is very very very small, but i dont believed i missed it) :p

I honestly can't see any other way?????

There is always confusion when some one is making a sandwich and you ask for 2 sandwiches - made of 4 rounds of bread not 2 rounds of bread cut in half... i always have to double take when i ask or get asked to make a sarny :p

New Scientist did this in one of their little 'last word' book things. Tis an interesting fact, though I can't remember the proper reasoning behind it all.

Surely if you break spaghetti in half you get 2 bits, because if you get more then 2 bits then it couldn't have been broken in half, it would have been broken in thirds.
