ASUS Rampage II Extreme Thread

Tried each stick in each of the blue slots, tried 2 sticks in each pair of slots, and all three sticks - all go through a few lcd outputs before giving "CMOS ERR". If I use any of the white slots it just says "LOCKED".
I have been using the 8-pin aux ATX power since the start.

I'd try reseating the CPU and double check all connections, failing that it sounds like you might have to RMA the board. It seems to run through all the checks ok then fails on INIT ROM which is the mobo loading the bios settings.

Thanks Ranger07, tried reseating CPU in the socket, taking every plug out and putting back - same thing. However, I did discover that if I press DEL when it says CMOS ERR, then the LCD Poster thingy then says "EN SETUP". Not sure what to do now, but a new error is some sort of progress at least hah.
Asus manual says this means "OK to enter setup utility"... I wish I could!

Just bought a new 7300GT to test it, works on my old mobo, exact same error on the Rampage as my 8800GTX - "EN SETUP" with DVI connector. Tried the VGA connector and I see the BIOS screen! Should I try to flash the BIOS to the latest version now? It is version 0407 (10/20/08).

Seen what Eddy is bringing out for this board next week :)

Hi guys,

I'm buying this mobo, can anyone enlighten me which mem should i buy?

Corsair 6GB DDR3 XMS3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz or

G.Skill 6GB DDR3 NQ PC3-12800C9 1600MHz (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3?

Corsair i have 3gb of it running fine, when i ask about the two the Corsair came out everytime :)

On auto clock for the time being until i go under water but it runs at 3.3ghz no problem.

Corsair 6GB DDR3 XMS3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz it is faseter :)

The Corsair XMS3 and G.Skill are identically spec'd They are 9-9-9-24 the dominator is faster (SPD settings) but then its a fair amount more expensive for a 6GB kit.

The place i got my Dominator 6GB kit from was the same price as the XMS3 6GB kit around £220.

Heres my settings for a very safe and stable 4.0ghz oc on a 965.

I ran prime overnight without any errors, my temps were 62c max. Idle temps are around 34c. (Water cooled)

This was pretty easy to achieve and im sure it will go a lot higher but im not into extreme overclocking im just looking for a good 24/7 overclock with safe temps and voltage.

Set up-

i7 965
6gb Corsair dominator 1600mhz
3x 280 GTX Zotacs
