ASUS Rampage II Extreme Thread

ok guys i just bought this motherboard with the core i7 940. Installed everything all the components and as soon as i power it up, no display:( i have a coolermaster cosmos s casing so i dont even have a speaker through which i know if there is any problem or not. I tried switching the rams, seating the vga card in other slots (BTW am using 4870X2) but still no luck. The lcd poster just starts a timer and keeps on going until i shut the pc off. Please help me out because this is getting extremely annoying. Thanx

Mine counted on the LCD display too when i first gave it power as I just set it up today it changed when i turned it on via the switch though I take it your turning it on and off using your case switch or are you killing it with the PSU switch if your using the PSU switch try using the start button on the Board rather then the power switch on your case.

Any thoughts on how to get a little more performance out of it?

got 6 gig dominator 1600
noctua nh-u12p 1366 cooler
and gtx 280 sli

23719 vantage score

looking to go around 3.9 - 4ghz, do you think its posible on air?

40c idle
can't remember what it is under load

Cheers

i have had mine up to 4.2 on air but i run it at 3.8..theres loads off stuff on youtube and the offical asus site has a good OC guide with a nehalem calculator for download so you can calculate your own figures and apply them in real:)

Too give you some sort of idea i'm running my 920 @3.6Ghz with 1.25V,getting around 35c idle & 62-65c prime 95 load using a noctua NH-U12P with one scythe s-flex 1600rpm fan.

I already asked this in another thread but didnt get a useful rreply, maybe you could help.

If you had a 295GTX into your lower PCI-e Port, could you use the PCI port next to it?

I heard that this board isn't standard ATX, did you have any problems installing it?

No one answered this. I have a Silverstone TJ07 and I'd like to know if I can fit this board in it along side an EK res? Is the board roughly 2cm wider?

Also I'll be using a 4870x2 so can you use the sound card it comes with too?

Thanks,

RoEy

I am loving that red start button. It's like a nuclear strike button or something. (Just hope there isn't as much smoke and fire as a real nuke strike when you press it though) :p

??

Yes it will fit fine, but i think the only probelm is if you ever want to install a graphics card in the very bottom pci-e slot as the TJ07 doesn't have enough pci slots.

Thanks for info. I'll never be fitting a 3rd card in anyway as I can't see the point whatsoever.

Thanks again,

RoEy
